The George & Dragon

Restaurant

This 16th century Kent coaching inn has been given a sympathetic contemporary make over, which contrasts original features such as oak beams and open fires with tasteful floral wall coverings and banquette seating. An equal amount of care and attention has been lavished on the daily changing menu that showcases simply prepared local free range, organic and sustainable ingredients. Even the beer comes from the Westerham brewery, less than fives miles away.

Where is The George & Dragon located?

Nestled in the Garden of England, Chipstead is a picturesque village. Conveniently located for easy access to central London, M25 and Gatwick Airport. Conveniently situated but yet Chipstead retains the gentle idyllic charm of a village in Surrey, an oasis of rural harmony on the banks of the edge of suburbia, enjoying a strong sense of identity, caring, and community.

What cuisine is on offer at The George & Dragon?

Start with Ham Hock and parsley terrine with an unusual and refreshing marinated nectarine and cinnamon salad, followed by fillet of sea-bream with brown shrimp and caper butter, or try the house burger made with Ashdown Forest venison. Finish with a traditional and comforting apple and blackberry crumble with crème anglaise. The menu changes each day to represent the local product and the talented chef's team work tirelessly to take advantage of the best products of the surrounding countryside. Where possible, everything is fresh, seasonal and local.

What makes a meal at The George & Dragon unique?

The George & Dragon menus are updated every day to reflect the locally and seasonally available produce.  All the meat is free-range or organic, and vegetables are grown locally. Sustainable fish landed from boats off the southeast coast and that follow the marine stewardship guidelines, the result is great quality ingredients treated simply and with respect.
The chefs ensure that the quality and freshness of the ingredients are reflected in the food they place on their menus. From simply grilled skate wing with a lemon and caper butter or seared haunch of Chart Farm Venison with Jerusalem artichoke & truffle.
