Overview

The Mulberry tree is a contemporary bar and restaurant in Boughton Monchelsea four miles from Staplehurst. With a mix of antiques and contemporary furniture, The Mulberry tree is light and airy with a modern finish. The sunny spacious terrace and garden is a perfect spot for al fresco dining or just a drink. The Mulberry tree is committed to using the very best seasonal, free range organic produce and rear Kentish White Middle pigs on the grounds, grow fruit, veg and herbs from their garden and mill the flour for the homemade bread on site in the working mill. In season, try the home reared slow roast belly of middle white pork, spring greens and lovely golden crusted boulangère potato or South Coast mackerel with sloe berries and woodland sorrel.

Despite living close by to the Mulberry Tree and hearing about its reputation, last night was the first time my wife and I have been there for a meal. It truly deserves the accolades it gets. Absolutely fantastic meal, great value with superb, attentive staff who could not have been more friendly and welcoming. We went there for my wife's birthday and straightaway we knew we had made the right choice. We both had the tempura soft shell crab with a sweet chilli dipping sauce to start with followed by hake sweet potato dauphinoise for my wife, I had the duck breast with seasonal vegetables. Each dish was perfectly cooked and very filling. In short, great value, great food, perfect location and brilliant staff. We will be back.

Visited the Mulberry Tree for the first time last night after abandoning ship on another venue which was way too noisy. Fortunately they managed to find a table for us on a Saturday night due to a cancellation. Staff were very friendly and we didn't have to wait at all. The food was excellent, particularly the asparagus and Parma ham starter and the carrot cake dessert. The only downside was the extra side order never turned up. Apart from that all the courses were very high quality and the menu had some great choices. Would definitely come back again and recommend to others.

We recently had lunch with friends on the Jazz Sunday, we were able to sit in the garden and eat our meal whilst listening to the jazz quartet. The music was great, the setting spot on and the meal was fantastic. If your thinking of doing one of the special events if the Jazz lunch is anything to go by do not hesitate. We are looking to do one of the other events in the future. The staff were great nothing was any trouble and we felt that we were well looked after. Well done to all the staff Thank you.

My first time at this establishment and I was very impressed. We (4) had a four course meal and were looked after by the attentive staff in a most professional way, the atmosphere was very calm. You can dine outside if you wish when weather permits. All the food at our table was excellent and served in a very reasonable unrushed time. A beautiful setting in the wonderful Kent countryside. Weddings also catered for. Will definitely be going back for more of the excellent food served here. 5*

First time here, my wife and I visited on a spare of the moment lunchtime whim today, and I've already recommended it to a number of people in a matter of hours. Varied menu selection, excellent presentation, and great taste throughout. Excellent atmosphere as well, considering it was just a lunchtime booking. Staff were pleasant and attentive, too. Just about the right amount of Tabasco in my Virgin Bloody Mary, too. Will be coming back.

We have been several times now for a Sunday lunch which included live Jazz in the garden. Once again we were not disappointed. It was lovely to sit and listen to the music being seated for our meal. The service was good and a lovely choice of food and wine which we all enjoyed. I would recommend this restaurant for any occasion, we just wish it was closer to home and we would go more often, we will be back again next year.

An Impromptu visit to one of our favourite restaurants and as always had the most amazing meal. We both had different starter main and desserts and they were all amazing. Fresh flavoursome and interesting combination of ingredients which created a talking point at every stage a real experience not to be missed. Service impeccable as always thanks Lauren and team.

Yesterday my husband and I celebrated a "significant" anniversary with 24 friends at The Mulberry Tree. It was perfect in every way. The food, the service, the attention to detail ... thank you, Karen, and your team. We wanted everything to be perfect and stress-free for us - and it was!
