Events in or near Wales

A proud and independent nation where the Welsh language is the first language of many, particularly in the north and west. There is a strong tradition of choral singing, and the Welsh love of music in all its forms. Literature and poetry is also manifest in the large number of eisteddfods, a tradition going back at least eight centuries. The decline in the Welsh mining industry has now resulted in tourism being the most important industry.
