Overview

Stunning is the word that comes to mind when first viewing this William III country house with its striking antique-filled and wood panelled dining room. With a calm view over neatly mown lawns, the two dining rooms, The Oak and The Pineapple offer the perfect, elegant setting for breakfast, lunch or even a candlelit dinner, along side a wine list reflecting quality and variety.

Where is The Oak Room at Middlethorpe Hall Hotel, Restaurant & Spa located?

Middlethorpe Hall is situated in 20 acres of gardens. Overlooking the York race track, the Hall is a good choice for Racegoer. It is just a mile and a half from York railway station and the City – one of the oldest cities in Britain, still enclosed by its mediaeval walls.

What cuisine is on offer at The Oak Room at Middlethorpe Hall Hotel, Restaurant & Spa?

The bang up to date British menu features a plethora of foams: ginger with salmon, scallops and crab; truffle foam accompanying roasted guinea fowl with morels and crisp pancetta and lime flavoured one to partner a lemon-curd parfait with a fashionably salted butter caramel. Chef Nicholas Evans is also keen on more traditional cooking, offering stuffed frogs' legs or foie gras, seen here with duck and pear. Roasted zander marries well with red wine salsify. Warm chocolate tart with passion fruit ice cream makes for a tempting dessert combination.

What makes a meal at The Oak Room at Middlethorpe Hall Hotel, Restaurant & Spa unique?

In order to keep the menu fresh and seasonal the chefs work closely with local suppliers and the hotel's gardening team. Chef Ashley Binder and Chef Paul Harrison combine their experience to produce excellent menus, which have been recognised over the years and continue to appeal to experts from the world of fine food.
