Amazing overnight stay with dinner My wife had an overnight stay and meal here for her 30th birthday and I have to say we were both very impressed on all fronts from location, accommodation, service and of course food. The first thing that hits you is how beautiful the building is with its thatched roof and beautiful surroundings. Inside is just as beautiful and is defiantly a one of a kind place with fascinating and unique artworks throughout and into the more intimate and relaxed restaurant area. The bar has a great choice of beers on draught and has a big emphasis on local ales. The meal we had was simply out of this world, A one off special 8 course taster menu that was put together by their very talented Head chef Leon Smith and his team, presented at the table with service you would expect to see in a michelin star restaurant with a brief description of the methods used and where the produce was locally sourced. To pick my favorite course would simply be impossible as each and every dish was cooked to perfection with perfectly balanced flavours and presentation to die for. The room we stayed in upstairs was very impressive, again all completely refurbished with some absolutely stunning features like exposed roof trusses and roll top bath. The room was also well equipped with a roberts Internet DAB radio, Wi-Fi and a mini bar so well stocked you could survive a few days on that alone! Remembering they have only been open less than a month and delivered on such a high standard, I believe this place is heading for a future star! All in all there has been alot of though into the renovation and detailing of the whole building and has been executed very well for an enjoyable stay. That coupled with friendly staff and amazing food makes for a place I highly recommend. I can't wait to go back and do it again and I urge you to try it out!

Well worth a visit! Mr Hanburys is a quintessentially English country pub in a beautiful setting with its thatched roof, veggie patch and gorgeous countryside. On entering it has a very different feel - Quirky, unique and completely individual, the Masons certainly has its own wonderful sense of style - a mix of fantastic art work against William Morris wallpaper, gorgeous antique, industrial furniture and plush luxurious furnishings. The pub feels comfortable and stylish, the restaurant ties in perfectly though feeling more dramatic and intimate. The rooms here are beautiful and have been as loving restored as the pub/restaurant. Everything has been done with a exacting eye for detail with luxury in mind. No stone has been left unturned even in the smallest of details, resulting in luxurious, well appointed rooms. A minibar and hamper fully stocked with quality, locally sourced drinks and luxury products. The bath products all natural, and again local for use in the beautiful roll top bath or rain shower. Our stay here was superb and extremely comfortable. Food was the highlight of our trip, each dish cooked to perfection and the presentation exceptional. The dishes were an ode to the English countryside, all locally sourced, grown and foraged showcasing the wonderful quality and also the talent of chefs here. Service was fantastic, staff were welcoming and friendly, nothing too much trouble. We also enjoyed a delicious Sunday lunch here, again perfectly cooked meats, and a fantastic way to end our stay. We are already planning our next trip and wouldn't hesitate to recommend for a meal and/or stay. Sure to become the next best place to go in Oxfordshire!!

Sunday lunching... the all new Hanbury Mason Arms; The answer to the prayers of West Oxfordshire. Superb setting, and a massive refurb that clearly wasn't done on the cheap. Not sure where they found their chef, or how they got to him before Gordon Ramsay. VERY accomplished cooking. My starter of Crab with bisque was so good I had to ask for another one. Deliciously understated, and oh such delicate flavours. Main course was chicken.. perhaps overly generous portion size. Less is more in this case. But cooked to perfection. Precision. Tasty accompanying vegetables, with some lovely balance textures. And then pud! The missus had a pannacotta, worthy of a Michelin star by itself. And a simple deep strawberry or some such red fruit sorbet/ice-cream thingy. It had me at HELLO. Dreamy. Wine list very good too. A simply cracking house champagne that would put the likes of Bollinger to the test.

We had heard that the Masons Arms had re-opened. We took a walk out there for Lunch. Very warm welcome. Nice selection of beer with a couple of real ales and some craft beer on tap. Fabulous food, both had the ploughman's, which was of superb quality. Weren't going to have a dessert until we saw the menu and wow! Not sure where their pastry chef has come from, but the chocolate mousse was divine. Sensible prices given the service and the quality of the food. It is really great to see a proper pub back in South Leigh. They deserve to do well. Highly recommended

Tremendous to see the Mason Arms open again with a fantastic chef Our second visit to the newly opened Hanbury Mason Arms. Had the pigeon on our first visit and the salmon this evening. Both outstanding Michelin standard dishes in my view. Service first class, really welcoming. The combination of traditional pub with a quricky modern twist shows real imagination. We will be back next week.
