Located in Galtres Lodge Hotel, in the centre of York. Step out the front doors onto the busy shopping street of Low Petergate, and turn the corner to see the magnificent York Minster, which is located directly behind the hotel. There is plenty of options to choose from for breakfast, so start your day right with a full Yorkshire Breakfast, or for a veggie option go with the Gardener's Breakfast. There is also granola, porridge, kippers, forester’s mushrooms, and lots more! The lunch menu includes classics such as Beer Battered Haddock & Chips, "Shambles" Wild Boar Burger, and Home-Made Crumble. The a la Carte Menu is bursting with dishes that showcase the chefs' finesse. A beautiful menu, combining a mixture of classic British dishes with some more up-market options.

Favorite dishes from the menu include the "Whole Yorkshire Hog" starter and the "Rack Of Local Lamb" main course, but there is something on the menu for everyone. Inspired by the hotel's history, FOREST has created the most exciting afternoon teas in York (if not beyond!). The 'Forest Afternoon Tea' is complete with a "forest floor" finale, and carefully paired teas with each course.
There is also a small private room at the back of the Forest Restaurant, which is tentatively called ' The Hideaway'. This unique space is ideal for a table of 6-8 people and has a speaker so you can listen to your own music while you dine. There's even a screen where you may watch movies, give presentations, or slide shows. A grass floor and ivy trailing around the fairy lights in the ceiling continue the Forest theme. A charming, quirky, one-of-a-kind, and romantic space for private lunches, small gatherings, or whatever else you can think of!
The tables in the secret garden have their own heaters, as well as an overhead cover to protect against any unexpected rain. The tables will comfortably seat 4, but can fit 6 with some advance notice.
