Overview

The Roebuck is the oldest Inn in Mobberley. Restored in 2016 to the great old English inn with an intimate bar, village bistro and six rustic boutique bedrooms. Guests will love the private gardens and the Roebuck's proximity to two other award winning pubs under the same ownership. The Bulls Head opposite and the Church Inn 800 yards walk away.

What makes a stay at The Roebuck Inn unique?

The Roebuck Inn is the perfect place to kick back and relax...a 'home from home' with great walks around the Cheshire countryside and a jog too if you want to partake! The Roebuck Inn walk (which can be picked up in the pub) takes you across farmers fields and past the 12th Century St.Wilfird's Church and of course past the award winning Bulls Head and Church Inn the Roebuck's 'sister' pubs. Or you can cosy up by the fire and simply enjoy a bottle of wine and a fromagerie board and watch the world go by....slowly. The rooms offer you rustic charm and comfort and a hot bath after a good country walk is a must.

What style cuisine is on offer at The Roebuck Inn?

The menu is all freshly prepared by Andy and the team using local seasonal ingredients with starters such as crab, spring onion and parsley cakes with romanesco sauce and herb oil or garlic and tarragon chickpea fritters with preserved lemon, garlic and parsley alioli or tempura cauliflower, toasted seeds and spices with peanut sauce. Classic bistro main courses prevail to with great favorites such as tempura monkfish, Thai sweet and sour sauce with aromatic rice or spiced lamb shank curry, spiced red lentils, turmeric and onion seed rice or rib-eye steak, Café de Paris butter and Massey farm frites. To finish enjoy affogato, amaretto, espresso with salted caramel ice cream or classic crêpe Suzette with vanilla ice cream

What is the signature dish at The Roebuck Inn?

Classic boeuf bourguignon, rich Burgundy gravy, petit pois and mashed potatoes with chives

What are the rooms and facilities on offer at The Roebuck Inn?

The Roebuck Inn has six rustic, boutique bedrooms. Old shutters and radiators were imported from France and the beds and furniture too are individually antique. Egyptian cotton and handmade mattresses add to the elegance and comfort. Two rooms have their own log burners and another has its own fire place. Relax in a roll top bath with a glass of Champagne. All coffee and teas are made freshly for you by the team on request. The rooms are named after 'Old World' wine grapes such as Pecorino and Bobal. The rooms are for enjoyment without too much distraction. There is of course free wifi and a digital radio if you want to kick back to 'Classic FM'

What can guests enjoy when staying in the Knutsford area?

Mobberley has its own Micro-Brewery and the award winning Big Hill Gin Distillery which is situated at the Roebuck Inn's sister pub the Church Inn 800 hundred yards away. Tours and tastings can be arranged. Mobberley's most famous past resident is George Mallory, the famous mountaineer, who lost his life climbing Everest in 1924. His father founded the idyllic Mobberley Cricket ground and was Reverend at the village's 12th Century Church, St. Wilfrid's where there is a stain glassed window featuring George Mallory. The Church Inn has a historic private dining room named after Mallory and features interesting pictures of the famous climber. Further afield you have Knutsford with its charming main street with antique shops and gift shops.

Other Information

The Roebuck Inn has outside seating 'cafe style' along its old frontage so one can enjoy an aperitif while watching village life pass by or, if seclusion is your thing, then there is seating in the tiered garden and terrace adjacent to the Inn which you can access through the potting shed. The Chef's herbs grow in beds here from tarragon to chocolate mint. Brunch is served every weekend until 12 mid-day and in the summer months it is served in the garden. So one can relax in the mornings without having to rush....all very civilised.
