Stamford

The town of Stamford in Lincolnshire is situated on the River Welland. It was once a major wool town. A number of the buildings in Stamford are constructed of the distinctive old Lincolnshire limestone. The town has many pubs, hotels and guest houses and also 11 churches. It is also near to the fine Elizabethan Burghley House.
