Elgin has a long and fascinating history reflected in the buildings and layout of the town. Thr original 13th century cathedral fell in to disrepair, however in the early 19th century restoration work was started and is still going on to the present day. The medieval street plan has been well preserved over the centuries with an old cobbled market place and buildings with orginal facades.
