Overview

The fortunes of Jersey have always been intricately linked with the sea that surrounds it and the Maritime Museum in St Helier explores this relationship. Through a series of exhibits which are designed to be seen, touched, heard and smelt, visitors learn the story of Jersey's seafaring past. Sitting on the pretty harbour at St Helier, the museum gives you the chance to feel the full force of a gale, learn about the tides and design a ship. You will hear shanties sung by salty sea dogs and learn about the myths and legends that have been passed on from one Jersey generation to another. You'll also learn about famous sailor and Jersey philanthropist TB Davis plus the island's links with the fateful first and only voyage of the Titanic.
