Overview

Uncover stories of Jersey's colourful history from the Ice Age to the German Occupation as you visit the award-winning Jersey Museum and Art Gallery in St Helier. Here, heroes and villains rub shoulders with cattle and potatoes; you can learn the story of local actress and socialite Lillie Langtry (plus admire Millais' famous portrait of her) and be transported back to 19th century Jersey with a visit to the gas-lit Merchant's House. It's amazing to think you can trace history back 250,000 years at this great little attraction and see how life has changed for the people of the island over the centuries. The museum hosts the world famous Surrealist artwork of Claude Cahun and do not miss the All Change - Victorian Jersey exhibition, using Victorian art to discover the lives of this genius generation in Jersey.
