Hunterian Art Gallery & The Mackintosh House

Museum Gallery

Hunterian Art Gallery & The Mackintosh House, Glasgow Part of the University of Glasgow's old and distinguished Hunterian Museum, The Hunterian Art Gallery is home to an outstanding collection of paintings by Rembrandt, Koninck, Chardin and Stubbs plus some spectacular paintings, pastels and prints by James McNeil Whistler. One of the most popular features of the gallery is Charles Rennie Macintosh collection which includes a very intricate reconstruction of the interiors of The Macintosh House, his Glasgow home lived in with his wife from 1906 to 1914 – you'll see his original furniture and fitments with decorations as he would have had them. Also look out for displays by Scottish colourists Fergusson, Peploe, Cadell and Hunter plus a hefty graphics collection with 30,000 prints (to view by prior arrangement).
