TOP TEN VENUES FOR WINTER WEDDINGS

Back to Inspirations
It's a fact winter weddings can be just as romantic and spectacular as those in the height of summer. They just need a little more thought and planning. Its just as important to choose the right venue for a winter wedding as it is the right bridal attire. Try and pick one which is easily accessible and approached from a main road in case of very bad weather. Think log fires, candlelight, warm cosy reception rooms, the smell of pine cones, mulled wine, steaming punch and hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and marshmallows served just before your guests depart. Look for interesting areas for your photographs like staircases, ornate fireplaces, French windows, cloisters and walled gardens to give your winter wonderland wedding that extra special touch.
The Old Bell Hotel

Dating back to the 13th century and reputedly the oldest purpose built hotel in England, The Old Bell with its cosy ambience, log fires, antique furnishings and sinkable sofas in its lounges, which can be set aside for wedding parties, is perfection for winter weddings. Ceremonies are held in the Garden Room with wedding breakfasts in the charming atmosphere of the Edwardian Restaurant.

Middlethorpe Hall Hotel, Restaurant & Spa

“Tis a very pretty place”, said Lady Mary Wortley Montague back in 1713 – a description that still befits this impressive romantic manor house situated close York City Centre. The upstairs sitting room is perfect for small intimate ceremonies followed by a reception in the elegant Yellow Room overlooking the rolling lawns; whilst the majestic oak staircase is one any bride would cherish descending.

Hotel du Vin - Newcastle

Set in the trendy arty part of Newcastle this former H.Q. of the Tyne Steam Ship Company has a uniquely romantic ambience combined with an abundance of natural light, exposed brickwork, beams, original art and antiques plus breathtaking views over the River Tyne. The Shipyard and The Bridge suites have large, polished banqueting tables to seat your guests, perfect for smaller receptions, whilst the terrace and courtyard make ideal backdrops for photos.
