Back to Inspirations
Whether it's a special occasion or you just want to spend some quality time with your gal-pals, an overnight spa break makes for the perfect location for some "girl-time". There are a bewildering array of spas out there, so before you set off, have a think about what kind of experience you want. If you want to squeeze the maximum value from your spa time, then look for spas with pools and heat facilities,. Do you want to detox in the peace of the country or stay in an urban spa to re-tox in the evening? Here's my top ten to get you started.
Hoar Cross Hall Spa Resort

In the heart of the Staffordshire countryside, Hoar Cross is a stunning Stately Home with superb spa facilities. I love the salt-water pool and hydrotherapy area and there are a plethora of free classes (archery, anyone!) and talks to attend too. Hoar Cross does get busy with day guests but it's a special place for an overnight stay and there are good deals to be had.

Rookery Hall Hotel & Spa

Set in 38-acres of parkland, this Cheshire country house hotel boasts great food with local produce getting the star treatment and I love that the local Cheshire cheese features on the menu too. The spa has a very chilled relaxation room with a water wall and the large pool has a glass roof perfect for cloud-watching as you lazily swim laps.

SenSpa at Careys Manor Hotel

I love the juxtaposition of the very traditional old-English Careys Manor with the zen-feeling Thai spa of SenSpa. Set in the middle of the New Forest at Brockenhurst, with a delicious Thai restaurant, and a fine dining restaurant too, this satisfies all tastes. The water facilites are the star here, steam and saunas, experience showers and a superb hydro area with different stations to target different muscle groups.
