Not so long ago, employers argued that keeping your job was reward enough. Some might have given their top salesperson a bottle of champagne on Friday evening, or sent the employee of the month to a local restaurant for dinner. Now though more and more employers are recognising that offering an appealing incentive can encourage their staff to put in that extra effort, to steal a march on the competition, and to boost company profits. The big question is: where to take them? It needs to be somewhere a little bit different, somewhere that will inspire the lucky winners, somewhere that will see them return to the office buzzing with enthusiasm and renewed vigour for their work. Here then are ten ideas.
Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons

When French-born chef Raymond Blanc opened Le Manoir in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside way back in 1984 it was a wake-up call to British cooking. It remains one of the country's leading restaurants, notable for the two-acre garden which supplies many of the herbs and vegetables used in the kitchen. Your team can spend a morning working with Monsieur Blanc and his chefs, learning new techniques, and preparing a lunch which you all then enjoy in the restaurant.

Gleneagles (King's)

Built in 1924 the Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire is famous the world over as a destination for a golfing trip. The Ryder Cup heads there in 2014, and, from May 2012, corporate groups will be able to embrace the spirit of the event with their very own Shotgun Start tournament. The package includes full scoring and tournament administration from the hotel's team of PGA Qualified Professionals, and, prior to play, a two-course golfer's lunch and tuition at the PGA National Academy, Scotland.
