TEN B&BS WITH A VARIETY OF BEAUTIFUL OUTDOOR SPACE

The UK has many beautiful gardens and woodland for the nature-lover to delight in, but what could be nicer than to wake up and find such beauty right outside your window. I've picked just a few of them for you – from a Georgian town house or manor house to a converted farm or country retreat. What they share, along with a high standard of accommodation, is the added advantage of their own private space for you to enjoy, whether a walled garden or dozens of several acres for you to wander to your heart's content.
Penbontbren

This luxury B&B, converted from an old Welsh farm, lies nestling in 32 acres of grounds and surrounded by Welsh countryside, and just two miles from National Trust beaches. It has just been awarded the prestigious César by the Good Hotel Guide 2012 for its splendid accommodation: five well-appointed suites with their own sitting room and garden, with the added bonus of substantial locally sourced breakfasts.

The Dulaig

Built in 1910 by the man behind London's Waldorf Astoria and recommended by the Michelin Guide 2011, this delightful country house is set in 1.5 acres of gardens. The Dulaig is also the only 5-Star Gold Luxury B&B in the Cairngorms National Park. The interior is a mix of Arts and Crafts and modern furnishings and all three rooms have en-suite bathrooms full of luxury toiletries. Locally sourced breakfasts are unmissable and there's even a ‘Cake Fairy'.

The Old Rectory

Recently voted one of Britain's top 10 ‘greenest' B&Bs, the Old Rectory lies in a beautiful setting, just a mile from picturesque Boscastle, with views overlooking the sea and Valency Valley. The kitchen garden supplies fresh fruit and veg, as well as eggs for your breakfast and you can enjoy the pigs, sheep and bees just as Thomas Hardy might have done when he stayed here. He left ‘with magic in his eyes'.
