10 Places for a Romantic Rendezvous in Edinburgh

by Natalie French

If you’re in search of a weekend destination for lusty debauchery and, perhaps even the first flutters of love – Edinburgh can provide. This city is sexy: from the dramatic silhouette of the old town dotted with medieval turrets and spires, and the fairytale castle perched on the horizon; to the heart-racing strut up Arthur’s Seat for a knock-out 360 degree view. Throw in kilt-clad men (pants optional); free-flowing booze (over 200 pubs); and a ludicrously lavish hotel with show-stealing roll-top bath - and you have the perfect first-time escape for newly acquainted couples.

Showing below are all 2 records in "10 Places for a Romantic Rendezvous in Edinburgh"

The Witchery by the Castle

Castlehill, The Royal Mile, Edinburgh

The Witchery by the Castle, Castlehill, Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh

For a night of pure un-adulterated passion, check into the Witchery. This opulent lust den lies hidden, just a stone’s throw from Edinburgh castle off the cobble-stoned Royal Mile. With just eight suites to choose from, I plumped for the Old Rectory – offering up lashings of drama, in the form of a huge gothic bed; flamboyant red décor and array of quirky antiques. The ultimate climax, however, is the ridiculously sexy, silver roll-top bath which sits seductively in the centre of the red and gilt leather walls of the bathroom. Big enough for two - just make sure the complimentary bottle of champagne is within reach. Book in advance, as suites are snapped up months ahead of time.

Royal Botanic Garden

Inverleith Row, Edinburgh

Royal Botanic Garden, Inverleith Row, Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh

The Botanic Gardens offer the perfect spot for a romantic stroll or the chance to walk off any sniff of a hangover. Marvel at the monkey puzzle trees; chill in the Chinese hillside garden or raise your temperatures in the stunning Victorian glass house, home to some of the largest palms in Britain. Take note from the locals and head to the John Hope Gateway Restaurant, for a cracking brunch spot. Phone ahead to reserve a seat on the terrace for a beautiful green vista to accompany a mean Scottish Breakfast including extras like Hornigs West Lothian black pudding, haggis and tattie scone.
