Overview
The 18th Century, boutique Vanbrugh House Hotel is a charming and friendly 4* boutique hotel nestled in the scholarly city of Oxford. The City Centre hotel boasts 22 traditional and elegant rooms which are ideal for unwinding and relaxing after a busy day of exploration.
Each of the 22 rooms are impeccably finished yet unique - you won't find two rooms the same. However, all feature furniture and bed frames hand-crafted in England and Egyptian Cotton bed linen. You'll also find bath and shower products by The White Company and complimentary Wi-Fi - just some of the little touches you'll find here at Vanbrugh House to make your stay comfortable. The little details matter here at Vanbrugh House and to showcase the rich history of both the property and the City, each room is named after the iconic history of the building, city or a character with links the story behind the names can be found displayed proudly on the wall of your room.
Just like the City, Vanbrugh House Hotel has a history of its own. The hotel is named after Sir John Vanbrugh who designed the unique, characterful hotel as well as the better known Blenheim Palace here in Oxfordshire and Castle Howard in Yorkshire. Vanbrugh House Hotel was built on the line of the Old Medieval City Wall of Oxford and once stood freely on its own.
Conveniently located, Vanbrugh House Hotel is the perfect base for a spot of exploration on foot. Just a short stroll from the train station and close by to all of Oxford's points of interests, shops, restaurants and bars you can truly soak up the Oxford life, if only for a night or two - the friendly team can advise on top places to see, where to eat and drink and directions, after all who else knows Oxford better!
