The Queens

A wonderful historic Art Deco Grade II listed building in the heart of the buzzing city of Leeds, The Queens is synonymous with luxury in the city. Created by the designers of The Dorchester and the Park Lane Hotel in London back in the mid-1800s, this is one of the UK's last great railways hotels hence its fabulous location overlooking City Square. Although given a full revamp to bring it into the 21st century, many parts of the hotel have been preserved so there's still a strong heritage feel as you pad along the Queens' thick carpets past the bright red finish and brass trim of the lifts and through the black and red decor of the public areas. Rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated but for a real treat book a room on the top floor where a private lounge and lovely city views reward your investment. Take a pre-dinner cocktail in the opulent Queens Bar (it's great for people-watching) and then tuck into a hearty dish, their specialty, at the Queens' Grill.
