Overview

The Nare is a five star country house hotel on the south coast of Cornwall. Overlooking the long and sandy Carne beach and surrounded by subtropical gardens and rolling hills, the hotel's peaceful seclusion and comfortable style make it ideal for lazy days by the sea or for exploring the coastline and villages of the Roseland Peninsula – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The Nare is renowned for combining the highest standard of service with a pleasant relaxing atmosphere and spectacular sea views at every turn. Cornwall's highest rated hotel for over 30 years, The Nare is considered by many to be the most comfortable hotel in the West Country.

What makes a stay at The Nare Hotel unique?

The location - described as 'surely one of the most beautifully situated hotels in the British isles', The Nare is situated in a secluded bay far from the madding crowds and surrounded by rural landscapes and stunning sea views.

During the summer months guests can spend a day on the water aboard the hotel's 38ft motor launch, Alice Rose, to explore the beautiful scenery along the Fal and Helford rivers and the Cornish coastline.

What are the rooms and facilities on offer at The Nare Hotel?

All rooms and suites are individual, most are very spacious, and many have balconies or patios. There is a heated outdoor and indoor swimming pool, outdoor sea-view hot tub, sauna, steam room, gym, tennis court, croquet lawn, and a relaxing health spa.

What can guests enjoy when staying in the Truro area?

Cornwall's mild maritime climate provides the right conditions for many subtropical plants to thrive. Cornish gardens are therefore able to produce species from all over the world including the magnificent Cornish magnolia campbellii originally from the Himalayas. Cornish gardens are therefore considered to be amongst some of the finest in the world. Many beautiful Cornish gardens are within a short drive from the hotel. Concessionary tickets can be purchased at the hotel and private guided tours with head gardeners can be arranged for guests.

The Nare is positioned on the South West Coast Path with direct access from the hotel's gardens. One can choose to walk independently or book a private guided walk on any stretch of the Cornish coast path.

There are also numerous historic sights to visit on the Roseland and across Cornwall from 13th century churches, medieval castles, quaint fishing villages, beautiful beaches and some of the finest art galleries in the south west including the Tate Modern West.

Where can guests enjoy food and drink?

Guests have the luxury of dining in either the traditional Dining Room or the nautically styled Quarterdeck Restaurant.  The Dining Room, with its magnificent sea views on three sides, and the Quarterdeck Restaurant, with its classical yachting décor and teak panelling, offer traditional English fare. The sea views are equally spectacular from the terrace which affords a delightfully sheltered suntrap, especially for breakfast in the summer.

Many guests appreciate the classic silver service and The Nare's renowned hors-d'œuvre trolley, flambés and homemade puddings. Cornish lobster is on the menu every night alongside an abundance of the freshest seafood and the finest local produce, and of course generous helpings of Cornish clotted cream.  Dishes are prepared with passion, care and an emphasis on delicious cuisine.

Other Information

The Nare has a private Door to Door Range Rover Chauffeur Service that provide comfortable travel to the hotel from anywhere in mainland Britain. The Chauffeur Service can also be booked for half or full day visits to sights across Cornwall.

The Nare has its own resident artist and tennis coach, both of whom offer private lessons by appointment.

Our room was very comfortable and wanted for nothing. It was clean, beautifully decorated and furnished. The sliding doors lead onto a small private terrace with direct access to the hotel's well maintained gardens above Carne beach. The small decanter of sherry was a nice touch. Afternoon tea was served in the welcoming lounges. Supper in the evening was excellent with faultless service. On this basis, breakfast the next morning was, unsurprisingly, very good. The other half had a jog along the SW Coast Path, while I contented myself with the outdoor hot tub and the indoor pool. Finally, all the staff, and they were numerous, were charming, well drilled and always helpful. We shall visit again. Highly recommended.

The service was exceptional, with all the staff, genuinely wanting to help and make my stay as pleasant as possible. The food was abundant, tasty and well presented. The position is spectacular on a beautiful beach, surrounded by Cornish coastline. I also visited the spa and had a couple of treatments, another lovely experience. The hotel feels like a country house and made me feel like I had stepped off the mad merry-go-round of the outside world and into the arms of comfort, service, and tranquility you don't find very often in hotels. I left feeling relaxed, refreshed and ready to get back on the mad merry-go-round. I've booked to go back and I hope that The Nare Hotel never changes... I fell in love with it.

WendyB

A unique place with loads of character. The staff are lead by an outstanding team who go out of their way to provide excellent service. This is not a modern palace, some aspects tend to the quirky side; it's the people who run it that make it special and obviously the location is stunning.

I had a blissful stay at the Nare, the sun shone the whole time we were there, the staff were fabulously attentive and we loved the fact all the rooms are so unique and different, adding immensely to its wonderful character!

JackieA

Superb service from the moment you enter, you automatically feel special regardless of position upon entering. The food was exquisite, delicious and plentiful.

GeorgeM

Impeccable service, nothing was too much trouble, the food and accommodation was superb. We will definitely be staying again. This hotel is a hidden gem.
