Overview

Gibbon Bridge is situated in the heart of the Forest of Bowland and Ribble Valley overlooking the beautiful rolling fells and farmland. It has its own 23 acres of award winning gardens with a large spacious terrace overlooking the main garden or a large comfy bar with an open fire for the days when the sun doesn't shine.

What makes a stay at The Gibbon Bridge Hotel unique?

Janet Simpson, the proprietor, established Gibbon Bridge in 1982 and has grown the business from a restaurant with rooms to a four star 30 bedroom country hotel. Janet still cooks breakfast most days and is hands on thereby offering a very personal and individual service to all her guests along with her senior team who have been with her for many years. The hotel is an eclectic mix of new and old. The surrounding countryside is ideal for walking and cycling.

What are the rooms and facilities on offer at The Gibbon Bridge Hotel?

All the rooms are individually appointed and very spacious. There are six standard rooms, 4 VIP suites, 13 split level suites, 4 suites and a split level honeymoon suite with its own woodburner and garden. A number of the suites include extra beds for family use. There is a large comfortable bar with an open fire, and a terrace for enjoying the views and gardens from. There is a private side garden for pre-booked parties, a tennis court and a small gym.

What can guests enjoy when staying in the Forest of Bowland area?

Gibbon Bridge is situated a mile or so from Chipping, 5 miles from Longridge and 8 miles from Clitheroe. Longridge boasts a heritage centre and a number of charming individual shops and tea rooms. Clitheroe is a market town with a castle and museum as well as a number of independent retailers, hostelries and eateries. The area is renowned for its cycling and walking; both of which can be done straight from Gibbon Bridge's door!

Where can guests enjoy food and drink?

Full English breakfast is served daily, and full afternoon tea can be pre-booked on a Wednesday. The restaurant is also open daily for lunch & dinner and the hotel bakery provides all the bread, cakes, puddings and preserves. The ingredients are sourced from the kitchen gardens and local suppliers and cooked to order. Within a 5-10 mile radius there are a number of pubs serving food.

The location of the hotel is wonderful and general layout and architecture is well thought out. The gardens, even in March are lovely, they must be spectacular in spring and summer. The interior decor and flower arrangements, art work and glassware were all very fitting to the style of the hotel. The staff were all very friendly and extremely helpful in all departments. The food was 1st class with good selection and well presented. Our suite was incredible, we will certainly return again and recommend to all our friends and family.

Just stayed overnight after spending the evening reception at my nephew's wedding. What a beautiful Hotel with wonderful gardens and surroundings. I felt so comfortable in the bed I didn't want to get out this morning. The staff are all very accommodating. I cannot fault anything. Just throughly enjoyed the whole experience. Would definitely stay again.

Excellent accommodation, and food. Staff are efficient, courteous and go the extra mile to ensure your stay is perfect in every way. Delightful gardens and very peaceful, with just the birds singing and background noise.
