Janet Simpson, the proprietor, established Gibbon Bridge in 1982 and has grown the business from a restaurant with rooms to a four star 30 bedroom country hotel. Janet still cooks breakfast most days and is hands on thereby offering a very personal and individual service to all her guests along with her senior team who have been with her for many years. The hotel is an eclectic mix of new and old. The surrounding countryside is ideal for walking and cycling.

All the rooms are individually appointed and very spacious. There are six standard rooms, 4 VIP suites, 13 split level suites, 4 suites and a split level honeymoon suite with its own woodburner and garden. A number of the suites include extra beds for family use. There is a large comfortable bar with an open fire, and a terrace for enjoying the views and gardens from. There is a private side garden for pre-booked parties, a tennis court and a small gym.
What can guests enjoy when staying in the Forest of Bowland area?
Gibbon Bridge is situated a mile or so from Chipping, 5 miles from Longridge and 8 miles from Clitheroe. Longridge boasts a heritage centre and a number of charming individual shops and tea rooms. Clitheroe is a market town with a castle and museum as well as a number of independent retailers, hostelries and eateries. The area is renowned for its cycling and walking; both of which can be done straight from Gibbon Bridge's door!
Where can guests enjoy food and drink?
Full English breakfast is served daily, and full afternoon tea can be pre-booked on a Wednesday. The restaurant is also open daily for lunch & dinner and the hotel bakery provides all the bread, cakes, puddings and preserves. The ingredients are sourced from the kitchen gardens and local suppliers and cooked to order. Within a 5-10 mile radius there are a number of pubs serving food.
