Reviews

This is a wonderfully relaxing place to stay. Our bedroom was large and comfortable and better than we expected. The staff not only go out of their way to make sure that you have everything you need but they do it with a smile. We booked for dinner, bed and breakfast and we were not disappointed, the choice and quality of the food is consistently high. Lovely touches, for example, canapés in the lounge before dinner and coffee with a plate of chocolates and fudge served afterwards, make this hotel stand out.

Warm, comfy, wonderful food, friendly and family run. Rothay Manor Hotel is still a firm favourite of ours. There is good disabled access and facilities. Also their superb afternoon high tea, which is a must at £15.00 per head. This hotel, although quite near to the town of Ambleside, is quiet, relaxing and welcoming. We shall be back! The Fairfield Suite has an additional small bedroom for families, and is spacious and comfortable.

We really enjoy staying at this hotel. The staff make you feel welcome and at ease. Nothing is too much trouble. Bedrooms are comfortable and attractive if not at the cutting edge of interior design! The food served in the restaurant is excellent. It is beautifully presented and full of flavour. It is a relaxing and comfortable place to take a break.

An excellent buffet style afternoon tea. There was a large selection of sandwiches on both brown and white bread full of tasty fillings. Cakes were aplenty, delicious and mouth-watering. The house tea was smooth and thirst-quenching. All this set in such a relaxing surroundings.

Staff very attentive, nothing left to chance. Delicious food, hot, varied. Breakfast all you could wish for, very well cooked, all catered for. Excellent home made marmalade, jam, petit fours and canapés served at dinner. Beds very comfortable, en-suite very good.

Staff were friendly and attentive (without being fawning). Food was out of this world. We weren't served anything we didn't enjoy. The shower in the room was the best out of all the hotels we've stayed in. The room was clean, comfortable and well furnished.

We visited the hotel for afternoon tea on November 2nd. Excellent range of sandwiches/savouries followed by cakes and scones. Wide range of teas. Courteous and polite service in a very comfortable drawing room. A safe haven in the thunderstorm.

Friendly staff, wonderful food, attention to detail that makes you feel like an individual not just one of many. Interest holidays very good.
