Top 10 Hotels for Spring Watching by Dinah Hatch

"Built in the 1800s, this appealing Victorian hotel sits within its own 36 acres smack bang in Dartmoor National Park and has awesome views across the moorland and East Dart River valley. Wind down the private road to get there and allow the famously friendly owners Stephen and Karen Horn (repeat visitor numbers are high) to spoil you with a cream tea before you walk right onto the moorland from the door to explore the park’s riot of primroses, wood sorrels, bluebells, red campions and spring squalls. The hotel also owns a three-bed self-catering cottage for those who want more autonomy."

Ten of Britain's Cosiest Hotels by Sarah Turner

"In the heart of the Dartmoor National Park, this seven-bedroom country house hotel is a refuge from the modern world. Surrounded by 36 acres of tranquil gardens, meals are served in a light-filled conservatory and there’s also a lounge with wood-burning stove. Food comes from local farms and clotted cream features strongly! Dogs are welcomed too."

The perfect place to relax after a day's walking in Dartmoor. The hotel is very well appointed and the food exceptional.
Karen and Steve are perfect hosts and we will certainly pay a return visit when next in the area.

The two owners are very dedicated to giving you a great stay. Steven's humor livens up on a rain filled day. It's quiet and the river nearby replenishes your spirit. They serve "Perlig Mad" = honest food to keep you well and happy.
