The Seaview Hotel & Restaurant

My wife and I plus our dog, Jambo, enjoyed a 7 night break on the Isle of Wight - we took advantage of the stay 5 nights and get 2 nights free. It was a lovely time of year with a mix of weather. The coast is stunning and we enjoyed watching all the waders, oyster catchers and sanderlings running about as well as watching the shipping pass. The walk to Ryde is really pretty, and flat! We stopped at the Dell Café en route to Ryde for a lovely light lunch. In the evening we dined in the restaurant a couple of times - great value 3 courses for £28 - and the food was outstanding. On other nights we ate at Dans Kitchen at St Helens and the local Italian restaurant, Michelangelos in Ryde. It was a lovely break and the additional few days really allowed us to recharge. Staff were friendly. Room was clean.

The Seaview Hotel is something of an icon on the Isle of Wight. It is a really unique offering with a pub right in the middle. The pub is frequented by locals and one gets the feeling that nothing much has changed over the years. The hotel is decorated with lots of naval pictures, there is even a model boat in the restaurant. I imagine these type of places are getting to be few and far between - a traditional British coastal hotel. We stayed in a small but clean room in the hotel. We enjoyed the local beer and bar food in the evening. The Restaurant seemed quite busy. A lovely, charming hotel that has obviously been a part of village life for years.

We stayed over the Regatta week which was incredible fun. The village was busy, the weather good and there was lots of old-fashioned fun to be had on the beach including children's beach sports. We stayed in the Studio room which was reasonably priced. This room is located just outside the main hotel and has it's own entrance. Breakfasts were a real treat with a good variety of choice both in the cooked menu and the buffet. The children enjoyed the kids menu in the evening and we had most of our meals in the Pump Bar - fish and chips, crab ramekin and a wonderful salt beef sandwich.

We had a overnight dine and stay package which included a 3 course meal in The Restaurant. When we checked in we were notified that we had been given a complimentary upgrade to the Rope Walk annex. This was fun as there was a TV in the bath which felt very decadent. The dinner was relaxed, informal and tasty. The main restaurant is quite contemporary with racing sails and pictures of the Seaview Regatta. The staff were friendly and we had a lovely time. All in all a lovely doorstep getaway and I would definitely recommend.

Spent a fun few days in Myrtle Cottage, the self-catering cottage attached to the hotel. It was great to have breakfast at the hotel and more often than not we had evening meals in the Pump Bar - fish and chips are excellent. Staff are very friendly and the hotel accepts dogs in public bars. The village is picturesque with good coastal walking.

Lovely coastal hotel with good food and friendly service. The hotel has lots of nautical memorabilia and an authentic pub inside. The whole feel is warm, inviting and unpretentious. The rooms are comfortable but not many have sea views. The village is pretty and charming.
