Galtres Lodge is a York City Centre, small but perfectly formed hotel, the building was originally made up of two Georgian townhouses, combined to make this charming hotel and restaurant with twelve bedrooms. Step out the front doors onto the busy shopping street of Low Petergate, and turn the corner to see the magnificent York Minster, which is located directly behind the hotel. Located in an extremely sought-after area, with Petergate being the most popular part of York for visitors.
What are the rooms and facilities on offer at Galtres Lodge Hotel?
Most of the rooms have stunning features that complement the Georgian townhouse's history; original oak beam ceilings, exposed brick walls and fireplaces. If your lucky, some of the rooms have views of York Minster. Well behaved dogs are also welcome in many of the hotel bedrooms at a small additional charge. Most of the restaurant is also dog friendly, with the exception of a small area in case of allergies.
What can guests enjoy when staying in the York area?
With some of the hotel's neighbours including one-of-a-kind boutiques set within characterful buildings, specialty shops, and some of the best luxury brands in the UK. The Shambles, York's oldest and most famous street, is also only a few steps away: This narrow, cobbled pathway is lined with beautiful Elizabethan buildings and was the inspiration for Diagon Alley in the Harry Potter films, making it a popular destination for visitors and tourists. If you want to see multiple attractions during your visit, the York Pass is a great way to cover them all. You can get access to multiple places with a single ticket.
Where can guests enjoy food and drink?
A fantastic breakfast is included in all room rates. Choose from a "Full Yorkshire Breakfast" to a "Gardener's Breakfast" (veggie option), as well as granola, porridge, kippers, forester's mushrooms, and much more! Galtres Lodge is also home to FOREST, a warm, cosy, relaxed, and rustic restaurant. During the day, FOREST is a lovely and relaxing place to eat breakfast, lunch, home-made cakes, freshly baked scones, or even try the “forest” afternoon tea, the most exciting afternoon tea in York! When the lights go down and the music turns up in the evening, the a la carte menu takes centre stage, offering a mixture of British classics combined with some up-market meals. There are also numerous bars and restaurants, but of course, none of which can compete with FOREST.
