Inspirations

Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons is part of the following Inspirations:

Britain's Best Gourmet Hotels by Adrian Mourby

"If there is one British restaurant that typifies the hotel dining room as a gourmet destination in its own right, it has to be Belmond Le Manoir au Quat’ Saisons near Oxford. Founded by Raymond Blanc OBE in 1984, “Le Manoir” is a legend that lives up to expectations. Arriving guests walk through a series of beautifully-tended very English gardens and are then heartily welcomed into the old stone manor house.

Staff at Le Manoir set the tone brilliantly: friendly but not intrusive, very aware that they are fronting a premiere product, but with none of the airs of misplaced snobbery that blighted so many top British restaurants in the post WWII era. When my wife and I took our table for the (reasonably-priced) tasting-menu lunch, we were asked if we wanted the wines “introduced”. I didn’t understand the question at first as it’s become an all-pervasive part of the tasting menu schtick in Britain that the sommelier tells you all about each wine before you get to drink it. At the Manoir however, it’s understood that couples and families may not want their conversations interrupted. A nice touch.

The food – novella but not preposterous – was of course excellent and the dining room – a relative modern conservatory-style extension - was full. Afterwards we had a look at the kitchens where a well-attended cookery class was being held. Then it was on to the bedrooms. One of the attractive touches at the Manoir is that no two rooms are remotely similar. Some are to be found in the old house, many are in converted outhouses and quite a few in a new accommodation block that does a very good job of pretending to be an extension of the old outhouses. There’s even one suite in a converted 15th century circular dovecote with exposed beams in the bedroom and a high, conical ceiling.

We saw four-poster beds with floral prints, rooms full of Art Deco mirrored furniture and a carved Indian bed that looked on to a large fish tank. You really do need to scroll through the rooms online beforehand but whichever one you get, there’s no chance of disappointment."

Top ten UK hotels and Inns with cookery classes by Adrian Mourby

"The best-known hotel cookery school in Britain has been running at Le Manoir since 1991. The Raymond Blanc Cookery School offers the rare opportunity to learn and practice in the kitchens of a two Michelin-starred restaurant. Under the guidance of head tutor Mark Peregrine - who was working in the kitchen with M Blanc when he won his first Michelin star nearly 30 years ago - students are given plenty of hands-on opportunities to develop their skills on courses such as Kitchen Secrets, Sauces for Courses, Wine & Dine, and Artisanal Bread Making. Some courses are for those with a lot of experience under their culinary belt, but there is also a Learn to Cook in One Day for beginners, a Garden to Plate course (using the 90 vegetables and 70 herbs in Le Manoir’s garden), and Blanc Vite, which Raymond Blanc developed to teach students how to create fast, simple, and delicious dinner parties. Courses don’t have to be residential, but after spending a day in this foodie heaven you’re unlikely to want to go home. From £185 (half day) £365 (full day)"

Ten Fantastic Food and Drink Attractions by Dinah Hatch

"Despite Monsieur Blanc’s seriously impressive chef pedigree, his restaurant’s cookery lessons led by head tutor Mark Peregrine are known for being a lot of fun whilst at the same time making sure you know your al dente from your au gratin. Courses run over one day, two days or four days and there are even ones for the children (well, got to start them early). Book the wine and dine package for a real one-off treat."

The First Few Years of Your Relationship by Hotel by Amanda Statham

"Meeting in-laws for the first time is always daunting and mother-in-laws are particularly intimidating, so start off on the right foot by getting together on neutral ground, preferably somewhere with fantastic food, so there’s a distraction if they don’t find your jokes/job/manners/face (delete as appropriate) as good as you’d hoped. Lunch at Le Manoir Aux Quat’Saisons, celeb chef Raymond Blanc’s gorgeous two-Michelin star escape in Oxfordshire, is spot on. It’s suitably special (and pricey), but Monsieur Blanc has made sure that it’s not stuffy, so you’ll be able to get to know each other without worrying about which fork to use or what half the menu means. What’s more, the garden, with its lavender beds, vast veggie plot with labels for all the produce and croquet lawn, makes a great place to stroll around together/escape from interrogation post-lunch."

Top Ten Historic Hotels in the Midlands by Adrian Mourby

"Most hotels acquire history as the years go by, but Oxfordshire’s Manoir has actually made history by turning a 15th-century Chiltern manor house into one of England’s top restaurants. In 1984 the self-taught chef, Raymond Blanc opened the Manoir. Ever since it has held two Michelin stars and five AA Rosettes, a unique achievement for a hotel restaurant."

The Ten Best Honeymoon Hotels in Britain by Liz Coggins

"Set in quintessentially English gardens it’s individually designed rooms and suites range from contemporary to classical. Some have their own private terrace gardens and there’s even a suite that features a stunning bathroom with a Botticelli mural and twin bathtubs for decadent bathing. Candlelit dining in the intimate setting of the award winning restaurant is a romantic experience to savour."

Another amazing visit as usual. We stayed overnight, had dinner and this time included a tour of the wine cellar.
Lukas the Chef Sommelier who looked after us on the wine tour was excellent.
Great food, wine, accommodation and of course staff.
The following morning at breakfast Raymond Blanc took the time to visit the dining room to chat to us which was very nice.
Be back soon!

Took my wife to Belmond Le Manoir to celebrate our 14th wedding anniversary and glad I did. From the moment we arrived it was sheer joy, from being shown to our room, Kiki, to eating the 7 course tasting menu accompanied by a wonderful bottle of Chablis, 2 actually.
We stayed 2 night and glad we did, having time to view the extensive gardens containing an amazing variety of vegetables which are used by the kitchen.
Our second evening meal was just as sumptuous as the first evening and included jacobs ladder and salt crust baked pigeon.
Will definitely return.

This is the best hotel I have ever stayed at. Possibly the most expensive also but I couldn’t care less. The experience was so phenomenal that I would happily pay it all over again. I would need to save first though!
I took my husband here for his birthday. The grounds and gardens are stunning. When you arrive, the scenery takes your breath away.
The service was extremely attentive and personal. We were upgraded to a suite for the special occasion which was superb.
Dinner was a one of a kind experience which lasted over three hours. Our waitresses, an amazing duo, made sure that everything ran seamlessly and that we were happy. The sommelier was attentive and recommended wines that were perfectly suited to our tastes.
I would thoroughly recommend a visit to Le Manoir.

Try hard to find any faults ! You could nitpick but then you would be missing the point. This hotel has been at the top of its game for some time & never disappoints. The service, food & accommodation are excellent. Staff are friendly & professional. Whats not to like ?

We went for lunch here yesterday. It was sublime! The staff were amazing - very unobtrusive but extremely professional and polite - nothing was too much trouble - they were all charming, without exception. The grounds are stunning - the winding path, the fig tree growing round a circular turret, beautiful green lakes with copper statues scattered throughout. The champagne/wine was lovely and the sommeliers were extremely helpful. The food was utterly delicious - everything was divine (every course, each canapé, even down to each quirkily flavoured bread roll!) It is expensive but worth every penny. Such a treat to have gone. Am now trying to think up the next thing we can celebrate (as an excuse to go back very soon!) You must go - it is such a special place.

I had earmarked Le Manoir for some time as being the location for our Silver wedding anniversary celebration so I was delighted to have been able to book it for the weekend of the 2nd/3rd June and even more delighted with our actual stay.
Our flight time meant that we arrived very early at the hotel but we were warmly welcomed at reception, offered tea, coffee and biscuits and even apologised to for the fact that our room wasn't ready (even though there was no need as we did not expect it to be).
We spent some time walking around the hotel grounds and gardens (personal favourite being the Japanese garden which was breathtaking) before being taken to our room which was the stunning Anais suite located in one of the outer buildings. On opening the door of the room, we were both taken aback by the exquisite decor and furnishings (not forgetting the complimentary treats and gift).
The main purpose for our visit was the cuisine and on both evenings we were not to be disappointed with every single aspect of the service, food and drink showcasing the expertise of the waiting staff, chefs and sommeliers. This extended to the breakfast on both mornings where the choice and quality of the continental and cooked options were second to none. To do justice to every dish would take a much, much longer review than given here.
Every single member of staff, irrespective of role or rank, was professional, friendly and helpful with special mentions going to Molly at reception, Henry for the interesting and informative tour of the kitchens (during which all those present took time to say hello) and Jessica who made us feel at ease on both evenings and who graciously agreed to take a photo of us to mark our special occasion.
A lot of other reviews mention the cost but it should be remembered that the experience provided by Le Manoir would not be achieved without the number and calibre of staff involved or by ensuring that nothing but first class products are used and offered. To lessen any of these would adversely impact on the enjoyment of those who are lucky to stay here.
There are possibly a few minor improvements/changes that could be made to improve the overall experience and/or provide better value for money but on this occasion everyone and everything at Le Manoir ensured our Silver wedding anniversary will live long in our memories.
Merci beaucoup.

The food, our room and the gardens were wonderful. The service was excellent. It was expensive but it was good value, every effort is made to make your stay enjoyable, nothing is to much trouble.
We chose the tasting menu with flight of wine, such a treat, beautifully thought out and presented.

I was a little nervous about staying here as it is a level above where we would normally stay and I was thinking it may be a little pretentious. On arrival though this was instantly dismissed with friendly, warm staff who gave us the tour of the hotel on the way to our room. The room was well very appointed and spotless throughout.

The hotel itself and grounds are wonderful with a range of amazing gardens.

On the evening we had a 7 course taster menu which delivered 100% on taste and quality with stunning flavours throughout. The restaurant staff were attentive, knowledgable and friendly.

Not a cheap place to stay but I would sum it up as an amazing hotel, restaurant and experience.

A Christmas gift of a stay at Le Manor was worth waiting all the way through to May for! We had an incredible time, excellent service, food, room, all the trimmings. We made an effort to have an early breakfast the next morning and were rewarded with the most beautiful and, at the early time, untouched display for breakfast. It was a sight to behold with such care and precision, we loved it. A walk in the grounds is a treat for the eyes and soul. Again we were up and about early so had a very tranquil stroll around with some wonderful opportunities to take photographs. Truly memorable, special and intimate. Thank you.

Last weekend my husband took me to Le Manoir for my special birthday. We arrived at 1.45 pm for lunch. We had champagne in a beautiful sitting room and was then shown to our table in the beautiful conservatory from which the view is magnificent (and would probably be even nicer in the Summer). The food was wonderful and each course better than the last. Because I am not fond of egg, I had mushroom risotto instead of the egg and mushroom consommé. The risotto with shaved truffle was cooked to perfection and the two desserts magnificent. The wine waiter was informative and helpful, without pushing the wine and our waitress Natalie was a joy. She spoke to us about her time at Le Manoir and she genuinely seemed to love what she did. My husband had asked if we could see the kitchens but they had told him by e-mail that it would be unlikely on this Saturday as they were very busy. However, whilst we had to wait a fair while, Marco took us round the kitchens and explained every section to us. It was a very good tour and we appreciated the time taken just before their evening service. As we had had to wait a while for the tour, they presented me with a signed cookery book from Raymond Blanc. Nothing there seems a problem
The following day before we left, we walked around the magnificent grounds. Whilst in Summer it must be lovely to see everything growing in the gardens, there is little this time of year. The whole thing is an experience and if you are a foodie, then you should definitely go. I would love to go to a cookery class as I thought the chef during the tour explained everything well and I would like to try it myself.

I booked an overnight stay and dinner as a Christmas gift for my husband. The benefit of doing this type of gift is that you get share the experience. From having our bags taken to checking out we loved every second of our stay here. Every member of staff was an expert in their own area. We were given a tour of the hotel and shown the gardens - which by the way you must walk around. Our room was super cosy and we were greeted by a half bottle of champagne, a decanter of Madeira wine and a plate of fresh fruit.
We went down to dinner at 7:30 - before my husband could say he doesn't eat fish this had already been confirmed with him and alternatives suggested. My husband ordered the platinum wine flight to go with his meal, each glass was served and described in great detail - which he thoroughly enjoyed. The food was of the highest quality I have ever eaten and each plate was presented so beautifully that you almost didn't want to ruin it.

We had breakfast on the following morning, this can be served in your room or in the dinning room, we chose to eat in the dinning room so that we could enjoy the full experience and see all the delights that were on offer.

Le Manoir's attention to details is impeccable - there is even a little pouch to take the soap in the bathroom home with you so you can continue to use it when you get home. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone was so professional and polite.

Our visit was not cheap but it was worth every penny and we would definitely go again.

Some thirty years ago my husband booked this restaurant as a treat and back then this restaurant stood out because of the sheer culinary boundaries it crossed. This allowed all of us privileged to dine there to be blown away by the dishes produced which seemed to take artistry and freshness to a previously unachieved level anywhere else in the country.

We have been lucky enough to go back several times over the years either because we were celebrating a special event or just because we felt we deserved a treat. We have always sat through each occasion remembering why we keep coming back as so many dishes simply leave you speechless.

The care and attention to every single dish is immense and every taste bud you have used and many you did not know you had will be on high alert as you savour every mouthful. There is no perfect dish to recommend as I have yet to taste one I didn’t like but the Tasting Menu is always a good choice if you want to be amazed.

It’s fair to say that money doesn’t always buy you good taste and we have been unfortunate to be near guests who think they are entitled to act over the top because they can afford everything on the menu and wine lists. However the majority of guests just want to be part of the magic the Manoir achieves on a daily basis.

On a good day the gardens are wonderful to walk around and a drink in the garden is a relaxing affair but today the clouds were on full downpour but it didn’t dampen the experience one little drop.

This was a treat of an experience. Luxury all the way. We had wanted to go here for some time and finally decided to do it. I am so glad we did. I am sure everyone says this but the food was trully splendid. We tried the dinner tasting menu and the second night choose from the a la carte. All I can say is that it really does deserve those Michelin stars! Service from all the staff was exemplary. The grounds and gardens are fascinating. We will be going back.

We stayed one night at the Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons & the experience was wonderful from start to finish. Our room was beautifully furnished & the bed very comfortable. The bathroom was also gorgeous with a large bath & seperate shower. We had 2 huge bath towels each, hand towels & flannels. The toiletries are in full-size bottles, not the usual hotel size. There was even a TV set in the wall at the end of the bath. Lots of lovely details in the room, such as pillow spray, a decanter of madeira & fresh fruit. The staff were friendly & helpful, making us feel very welcome. We ate in the restaurant & had the 7 course taster menu. It was simply wonderful - beautifully presented & delicious. We chose a wine flight to go with our food as we wanted to try different wines. The sommelier & waiting staff looked after us really well. Breakfast was excellent.
This hotel is expensive, but it is value for money when celebrating a special occasion.

If ever anyone deserved a knighthood (or Hon. Knighthood) it is Raymond Blanc, not just for his outstanding contribution to the culinary art in Great Britain – but for creating the unique and magical place which is Le Manoir Aux Quat’ Saisons in Oxfordshire.
In a world which is often troubled, stressful and frenetic Le Manoir is a delightful oasis of peace, luxury and Haute Cuisine.
It is a few years since we last stayed at Le Manoir, so we were a little apprehensive... Would it have retained its unique charm under the Belmond title? Or would it have succumbed to corporate pressures and changed in some way?
We need not have worried in the slightest, Le Manoir is still the wonderful, unique and very special place it always was – in fact, in all honesty, it has improved. This is due to the constant striving for perfection by Raymond Blanc, Gary Jones and their superb team.
Speaking of the staff at Le Manoir – they are all utterly charming, highly skilled, and attentive without being obtrusive.
During the afternoon of our first day there we went for a stroll around the extensive gardens, and we were fortunate to meet Raymond Blanc and his Head Gardener Anne Marie Owens. Their passion and enthusiasm for Le Manoir and its ethos was immediately apparent, and this is a common thread which runs through everyone at this legendary establishment.
We walked on a little further and could not believe our good fortune when we met Gary Jones, the Executive Head Chef at Le Manoir for over 20 years – and who Raymond Blanc describes as one of the finest chefs in the country. We would wholeheartedly endorse that. Chef Jones was gracious enough to stop and chat with us for several minutes.
Moving on to the dinner itself, we opted for the 7 course menu. All seven courses were delicious, but the highlights for us were the Truffled hen’s egg with wild mushroom tea – which my wife was not expecting to enjoy... but it became one of her favourite dishes on the menu! Our other favourite was the Aberdeen Angus beef & braised Jacob’s ladder with a red wine essence – simply sensational.
We should also compliment the Sommelier, whose knowledge was exemplary when we enquired about Loire wines – as my wife’s late sister was a huge fan. He recommended a superb red wine from a small vineyard – Domaine de l’Equ.. which had an an exceptional nose and perfectly complemented the goats cheese.
The breakfast buffet was, as you would expect, extensive – and of the highest standard.
I could go on, but in summary, for an uplifting and life-enhancing experience Le Manoir Aux Quat’ Saisons would be very hard to beat. We are already planning our next visit!

Just one night at this beautiful place was enough to see how the effortless impeccable service makes this such a delight to visit. From the greeting at the gate, to all the staff knowing our name and that it was my birthday, to the bar service and restaurant service, nothing was too much trouble. We arrived on Friday afternoon and were showed to our room which was the Snow Queen. Absolutely stunning. The restaurant and taster menu with paired wine was sublime and left no room for the additional optional cheese course. Our personal wake up call with coffee and tea was a lovely touch, and a lovely stroll around the beautiful gardens finished our stay there. Ladies in heels, beware of the paving stones on the little walk to the restaurant but that’s the only thing you’ll need to be aware of at this outstanding place. I can’t wait to return in the summer to see the garden in bloom.

I stayed in a lot of top hotels but this was probably one of the best. Absolutely loved it. We stayed in the L'Orangerie (garden suite) and it was awesome. Such a beautiful room. We went for the 7 course tasting menu and the wine pairing and it was heaven. The food was excellent and so was the service. The Front of House team was also amazing, great welcome and perfect check-in. the little village near by is so cute, great for an afternoon walk. I so want to go back.

New Year's Eve heaven! From the moment we set foot through the door until the minute we left, our every need was catered for. The welcome we received - from all the staff - was wonderful and we were guided through the plans for the evening. The champagne flowed as we listened to the live band and people gathered. the food was superb, accompanied by the most delicious wines, and served by the most pleasant staff. With pea shooters, bubbles, feather boas and hats on the table there was no hint of stuffiness and as we were seated with 6 like-minded people we had the most wonderful evening.

Everything we'd hoped for!
For people of a certain income level Le Manoir is a regular destination, however for more "normal" people this is a treat... and what a treat! We were here as part retirement part birthday celebration and something we'd looked forward to for a long time. We arrived late on a frozen December afternoon to a warm welcome and classy service from the first moment to the last. Our room, one of the smaller ones, was beautiful and plenty large enough to hold a three piece suite, dining table, very comfy bed and glorious bathroom. We were greeted in reception by name as we entered later for diner and this personal touch continued throughout our stay. Quite understated but very, very efficient. We opted for the excellent taster menu with accompanying wines and everything was elegant and superb, as you'd expect. The only slight downside was that I felt a little overdressed in a suit, perhaps if you have substantial resources you don't need to try so much to dress appropriately. Breakfast the following morning was again excellent, by far the best omelette I'd ever had, followed by a wander around the extensive grounds. This is the most relaxed and superb experience we had experienced for quite some time. Go if you have the opportunity!

The room was beautiful and spacious, the staff attentive and yet discrete and the food for dinner and breakfast super. Without doubt, this is our favourite place....i just wish we could afford to be regular guests rather than every 7 years

What a wonderful place this is. We were going to be treating some friends who live near by and we were staying the night ourselves. From the moment we drove up the service and ambience was exceptional. Not at all stuffy and exclusive but instead friendly warm and with every possible need thought if and met.
We went for the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairings. Everything was utterly delicious and generous in quantity. The quality goes with out saying. Gosh I could go on and on but suffice is to say, yes it’s very expensive, but you do not leave feeling you were overcharged. Perfect. Do make time to walk around the gardens.

I have wanted to visit Le Manoir for a long time and my husband took me this weekend to celebrate our silver wedding.
It was all fantastic.
The setting is beautiful, typically English and quaint.
We stayed in Jade suite which was exquisite. The decor had been carefully thought through and was of a very high standard. The bathroom was luxurious and the suite contained little extras, which made us feel very special.
We had the tasting menu for dinner. It was all delicious! Extremely well prepared, well presented and served with attention. The skill involved in producing plates of food like that is fantastic. I feel lucky to have had the experience of eating them.
All the staff were welcoming, attentive and professional.
I would love to return and maybe do a cooking course next time.

My husband and I were given lunch as a ruby wedding gift from our family. We drove down from Edinburgh and we have to say it was worth every minute of the journey .
From the moment you arrive you are welcomed by staff who make you feel that you are special
After coffee, we had a tour of the garden with Jonny one of the head gardeners.
Our eyes could not take in all the beauty of the gardens and we went back the next morning to take photos and just relive our tour.
Champagne and canapies before lunch and a talk from Raymond Blanc who just oozes his passion for everything about Le Manoir .
Lunch was an explosion of flavours in all 4 courses , everything fresh and beautifully presented. Outstanding
We can not praise the staff ,food ,suroundings and Raymond Blanc highly enough .

What a wonderful environment Raymond Blanc and his team have created. From the moment the lovely old building came into to view until we left everything was just about perfect. Our room (Jade) was huge, comfortable and impressive, the staff were a delight and the food amazing without being too over the top trendy. Do be sure to take a look around the gardens and in particular the vegetable area from which much of the produce for the fantastic quinine comes. Yes all this comes at a price but for us it was well worth it.

Utterly brilliant execution of one man's vision. I was afeared that it would be terribly stuffy and pretentious, even bought a new suit (and I don't wear suits!) but was totally relaxed and laid back. Amazing staff, utterly professional. Outstanding food and building and grounds beautifully cared for. We will go back every three months. The wine list is amazing, but the 'wine flight' simplifies the whole ordering/choice process. We are in a similar business and are incredibly 'picky' when away. Le Manoir was faultless and we loved the whole experience, it simply could not have been improved. We shall go back every three months!

This is somewhere we have always wanted to visit (my wife burst into tears of joy when she opened her card to discover the booking had been made). I booked the celebration "package" which included dinner, bed and breakfast plus extras such as champagne, roses and chocolates etc in a lovely garden suite.

It was truly a perfect experience and worth every penny. The room was spacious and comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful, the grounds delightful and the food was to die for. We particularly enjoyed walking around the vegetable and herb gardens, discovering new and interesting varieties (oyster leaves for example) then sampling them within the seven course tasting menu later that night.

I would say this is a once in a life time essential experience - however, having said that, it is my "significant birthday" next year!

Visited here last week with my wife for her 40th birthday.

The venue is stunning, with amazing gardens and surroundings. Well worth getting there early to have a wander around.

We were served drinks on the lawn before dinner and then taken through to our table where we both chose the 7 course tasting menu. One of the courses we could not eat and they were more than happy to let us have another course from the a la Carte menu as a substitute.

The food was well worth the 2 Michelin stars that Raymond blanc has got here. I could not fault it in any way. We had a bottle of champagne as it was a special occasion and they have a sommelier to help choose the right tipple.

The service was perfect - there really is no other words for it.

Do not hesitate to go if you have a special occasion to celebrate or just want to have an amazing meal.

If you stay here you almost take for granted the standard of cuisine but it surpassed our idea of what a 2* Michelin would be like.
RB is building a legacy for which he should be very proud, the gardens and the new orchard will be here for future generations to enjoy!
The rooms are very tastefully decorated as are all the public rooms.
This place deserves all the praise it gets on tripadvisor and we cant wait to go back.

We stayed for 2 nights just after new year with our 3 children, all under 12 years. I was a little worried that young children were possibly not the 'norm' at a magnificent hotel like this, and we didn't see many other children whilst we were there, but my worries were unfounded. From the moment we arrived, they were made to feel welcome, and each had a teddy on their bed, with a personalized note attached. We stayed in Provence, which had a separate lounge and dining room, the children's beds were placed between the couch and dining room table, but we still had plenty of space. We even had our own Christmas tree! The children were supplied with a box of brand new toys and beautiful books. The staff throughout our stay were faultless, unobtrusive and yet there when we needed them. Our children came to breakfast with us, there was a lovely buffet plus a la carte menu to choose from. Food was delicious. For dinner however, the hotel arranged a babysitter for us - she was really lovely, and our children liked her -the children had in-room dining about an hour before we went to the restaurant, and their food was so delicious we were tempted to have some. we then headed off to the lounge for an aperitif and some light (delicious) canapés, and had a chance to look through the menu. The first night we chose the 5 course menu with wine pairing - every single course was absolutely delicious, and the wine to match was perfect too. We were very full afterwards! the second night we chose the a la carte menu, with wine recommendations from the sommelier. Once again, the food was sublime and wine pairing perfect. The buildings and grounds are magnificent, our children loved wandering around them with us and really enjoyed looking for all the sculptures. It was overall a fantastic and relaxing stay, we will definitely be back, with all 3 kids again!

We spent Christmas at Le Manoir this being a surprise retirement treat for me, arriving on Christmas Eve and departing on Boxing day. We stayed in the Mimosa room which was beautifully presented complete with it's own Christmas tree. The festive menus were exquisite and absolutely delicious and the service impeccable. Christmas Eve dinner consisted of canapes in the lounge followed by a lavish six course meal which was well paced. As each course was served the waiter gave a detailed explanation of the culinary delights before us. Christmas lunch was fantastic once again commencing with champagne and canapes and then an eight course meal. By the time our main course arrived ( course five) l was beginning to feel rather full but l'm no quitter so managed to finish all eight!! A big thankful to all the management, chefs and staff who made this occasion so very special.

The fabulous food, the impeccable service, the rooms that are perfect down to the smallest of detail - these things are well documented and we certainly found no reason to disagree. So what else made it so memorable for us ?

Firstly, it was the generosity of spirit of the whole establishment - the standard response to any request was " of course sir " and you felt as if it was meant. Guests are addressed by name , not referred to by room number, immediately personalizing service, making you and your needs the most important thing.
The sheer beauty of everything from the minute you arrived, was quite amazing. The gardens, the sculptures, the room decorations, all had the feel of being individually selected by someone who loved and appreciated the environment. It felt like Raymond Blanc's personal mission, but one he wanted you to share and enjoy too. And we certainly did !

So yes, the food, the rooms, the staff, are all wonderful - and the rarely mentioned breakfast is absolutely fabulous too. But it is the warm heart of the Manoir that will stay with me forever. Thank you.

One of our party is allergic to eggs, and they went out of their way to accommodate this, providing alternative dishes where necessary, of more than comparable quality and standard. A nice touch at the end was a little addition to my wife's dessert - an edible plaque saying Happy Anniversary.
It's expensive, yes, but it's something really rather special, too, and well worth it for the experience.

Think this was our 6th visit over the last few years and yet again they excelled.
From the walk around the beautiful gardens, service and food, it's an experience we will not forget. It's fantastic that people like ourselves that save up to go for a special treat get the same attentive service as those people that may go on a regular basis and drive there in their Rolls Royce cars or fly there in their helicopters.

The service from every member of staff was exceptionally good. Food -Wow -what can we say. Raymond, Gary and staff get the menu just right. My husband is diabetic so they went the extra mile to change some sections of the menu to accommodate him, from the canapés to the petits fours. Our 15 year old daughter just loved going to such a lovely place and to be treated like the young woman she is. Can't wait for the next time.

Without doubt our visit to Le Manoir to celebrate our Ruby wedding anniversary on 25th September, 2016 was the best decision we've made for a very long time.

The experience is an absolute must. From the moment that you enter the car park and a member of staff arrives at your door, unannounced, before the ignition is turned off, too the moment that you leave, you can rest assured that nothing, absolutely nothing, is too much trouble.

The service level is second to none and the staff to guest ratio is the highest that we have experienced anywhere in the world. There is the greatest level of attention paid to every aspect of your stay, and whilst there are so many staff, they are not at all intrusive and just wish to give you the best service that they can (and they succeed in that in every way).

We enjoyed a tour of the kitchens, which as you would expect were absolutely spotless despite so many staff working there. Everybody, without fail, were so accommodating and knowledgeable. We were at no time made to feel as though we were intruding or were a necessary evil - we were made welcome at each and every stage.

All of the facilities are a real pleasure. Every detail has been subject to the highest level of scrutiny, from the exterior decorations to the internal ambiance, tasteful and elegant, restful and relaxing, nothing is left to chance and the attitude of 'That will do', clearly evidenced from every aspect of our stay 'Just will not do!'

Our one regret - simply that we have not visited sooner!

Our next good decision - to return!
