Overview

Inveraray Castle was erected between 1746 and 1789 to replace an earlier traditional fortified keep. It was designed by Roger Morris and decorated by Robert Mylne. On display are the famous Armoury Collection, French tapestries that were made especially for the castle and fine examples of Scottish, English and European furniture. It has been the home of the Duke of Argyll´s family since the 15th century, and the works of art, including silver and china span the centuries.
