Discover the intimate world of the Royal Family at Clarence House The formal London home of the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, Clarence House is open to the public every summer. Some prefer tours of this royal residence to those of the Grand Buckingham Palace, reflecting on the familiarity of the tour with guides passing on beautiful anecdotes and focusing on many of the portraits, paintings and family pictures scattered around the place and owned by the house's former Queen Mother.
What is there to see and do at Clarence House?
The tour starts in the garden, strengthened by some formal planting arranged by the Prince after his grandma's death, and proceeds through formal rooms that welcome thousands of visitors every year to attend lectures, seminars and charity events. Despite this position, the house still feels very private–perhaps because the prince lived there for the first time at the age of one when his mother, Queen Elizabeth, moved in after her marriage.
