Overview

Discover one of Britain's most interesting country mansions The Belsay Hall contains three distinct but connected features: a mediaeval castle that was expanded in the early 17th century, a Greek Revival mansion that replaced it as a family home in the early 19th century, and an excellent garden connecting the two buildings. A mixture of eclectic architecture Belsay Hall is a magnificent home like no other, enter the great room of the abandoned mediaeval castle on the site, and ascend to the top of the tower for a spectacular view of Northumberland. While the house is unfurnished, the Library still maintains its original marble fireplace and lovely plasterwork–both paeans of master craftsmanship.

What is there to see and do at Belsay Hall, Castle and Gardens?

Prepare to be fascinated by the Greek architecture of Belsay, the mediaeval palace, and thirty acres of beautiful gardens. Stroll through the elegant' Pillar Hall,' adventure through the Quarry Garden with rare plants at every twist and turn, and enjoy breathtaking views from the top of the castle tower. Once you've worked up your appetite, enjoy a well-deserved break in their enticing Victorian tearoom-set in the original kitchens.

During the summer season, they have guided tours of both the hall and the gardens. And don't forget to check out their second hand bookshop.
