Overview

Built by Edward Lutyens, Castle Drogo in Exeter is an impressive granite building built for the millionaire Julius Drewe in the first part of the 20th century. In desperate need of restoration, it is currently the focus of a fund-raising drive by the National Trust to return it to its former glory.

What is there to see and do at Castle Drogo?

In a magnificent setting high above the Teign Gorge with views of the city across Dartmoor, the interior features beautiful family portraits, Lutyens-designed furniture and beautiful oak fittings. Move through the library and billiard room, which features huge tapestries and large Axminster carpets, and take a look at the room dedicated to Adrian Drewe who was killed in Ypres. Don't miss the lovely formal gardens, packed with fine walks and beautiful views of the Devon countryside.
