Overview

Built in 1732 to a James Gibbs design, Kelmarsh Hall is surrounded by its working estate, grazed parkland and beautiful gardens. The Hall´s elegant 18th century plasterwork is complemented by Nancy Lancaster and John Fowler´s 20th century decoration in the fashion that became known as the English Country House style. The gardens include a topiary garden, walled garden, rose garden, glasshouse, woodland and lake, with herbaceous borders designed principally by Nancy Lancaster, Norah Lindsay and Geoffrey Jellicoe in the 1930s and 50s. The recently restored project 'below stairs' captures the lives of servants living in a country house, within the hidden tunnel, laundry rooms and basement rooms.

Reviews

Beautiful gardens very well kept and a variety of plants, shrubs and trees. Stunning outlook over lake and countryside. Excellent value for money food and scrumptious cake (coffee & walnut). Variety of beverages. Guided tour was very informative so well done to all!
