Ascott House, a previous hunting box which goes back to the sixteenth Century was given to the National Trust in 1949 by Anthony de Rothschild, together with the Ascott Collection. Ascott remains the open residence of the de Rothschild family.
What is the history of Ascott to the present day?
Ascott House stands as an 'Old English' villa of high contrast half timber, with red – tiled rooftops and shafted brick chimneystacks. Its center is an old farmhouse thought to date from 1606.The unique farmhouse has experienced numerous progressions since being gained by the Rothschild family in 1873. Ascott houses an excellent assortment of artworks, fine furnishings and heavenly oriental porcelain. The broad gardens, are an alluring blend of the formal and characteristic with specimin trees, bushes and excellent herbaceous borders.
