West Cornwall Golf Club is a unique links course situated just outside St Ives and overlooks the Bay and Godrevy Lighthouse. With sea views on almost every hole, St Uny Church forming the backdrop for the first few holes and Hayle estuary also visible, West Cornwall Golf Club is always a pleasure to play.
What style is the course at West Cornwall Golf Club?
The course is a true links with sandy soil sitting between sand dunes and fast greens. The wind is often a factor and despite its length West Cornwall Golf Club can play deceptively long. There are a few 'blind' shots but the test of golf is fair to all standards.
What is the feature hole?
The second hole is a par four with a large sand dune running down the right hand side with the green bordered by dunes and an accurate second shot is required to hit this green, which rises up from the fairway.
What sort of course features can the player expect?
The fairways are on rolling ground with various lumps and bumps providing great undulation. Always well maintained the greens run fast and true with bunkering that is best avoided!
