Crieff Golf Club is rated as one of Scotland’s top inland courses. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, at the heart of golfing Perthshire, it provides a feeling of escape as well as spectacular views. Opened in 1891 Crieff is renowned for its highly maintained grounds.
What style is the course at Crieff Golf Club?
Built on gently sloping parkland, once the grounds of Ferntower House, the courses provide a fair, but challenging experience for all levels of golfer. Excellent playing conditions and friendly reception to visitors led to the club being voted as one of the top UK golf courses by readers of Golf World magazine.
What is the feature hole?
Crieff has identified the fourteenth "Ferny Den" 353 yards, Par 4 as the prettiest hole on the course. The drive should be kept to the right to give a clear short iron second shot to a long green.
What sort of course features can the player expect?
The Ferntower is long and testing and has magnificent views over the Strathearn valley which improve as the round progresses. The fairways are mostly wide, the rough is cut short enough to avoid prolonged searching for balls and a round can be enjoyed by all levels of player.
The Dornock Course (9 holes) comprises five of Braid's original holes. The best holes are the short 2nd and the 9th which is a medium length two shotter. It provides good golf on a more modest scale than the Ferntower Course and is well used by the juniors, ladies, beginners & some of the more senior players. In Winter it normally forms part of a composite 18 hole course.
