Bovey Castle Golf Course is a demanding and magnificent 18-hole championship course crafted in 1926 by J F Abercromby, one of the best British golf course architects of the last century. When the course formed in 1930, it rapidly earned national recognition as one of the most popular places to play golf. Designed to compete with its sister courses in Gleneagles and Turnberry, this course has been defined as an experience of golf that can never be forgotten, offering the pure challenge of golf to both professional and amateur alike. The course passes through the hotel farm, surrounded by an idyllic landscape and obstacles to meet every handicap. Bovey Castle also provides a professionally fitted clubhouse, driving range, golf academy and bistro for pre-and post-match meals and snacks.
What sort of course features can the player expect?
They are immensely proud of their 9/18 hole course, which was designed in 2004 and provides a test for all aspects of every level of golf. With rolling par 5 fairways and water tight par 3's, woodlands, streams and wetlands, they can guarantee maximum fun while offering a golfing challenge in all the right places.
With different tee settings available for the back 9 holes, it provides a distinctive look and layout that performs differently, transforming the course into 18 holes that quickly built up a reputation as a challenging and unforgettable round for all regular players. Encircled by Devon's woodlands and woods and on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, breathtaking views are seen across several parts of the course.
