Waking up to birdsong and swaying wildflowers, with only sky and meadow in your eyeline – the Shepherds’ Huts at Ormesby Manor offer the kind of rural escapism that feels both romantic and rare. Scattered across 12 acres of private parkland, these three hideaways – aptly named Gardener, Gamekeeper and Beekeeper – are a lesson in how to do off-grid without forgoing comfort.
Each hut is made for two, with a king-size bed, en-suite shower and a dinky kitchenette perfect for breakfast-in-bed moments. Interiors are pared-back but plush, with soft lighting, smart TVs, superfast Wi-Fi and proper heating that makes them a joy in all seasons. You’ll feel blissfully away from it all, yet the main house is just a short stroll through the grounds, and the wild Norfolk coast is an easy drive away.
There’s a shared hot tub under the stars, a fire pit for slow evenings and story-swapping, and a stillness that’s hard to find elsewhere. Whether you’re slipping away for a quiet weekend or tagging one onto a bigger celebration at the manor, these huts are full of heart, simple, soulful, and just the right side of wild.
