The Roost consists of two luxurious, adult only, beautiful cedar wood cabins located within a Special Area of Conservation in 2.5 acres of meadow. Located in the stunning Forest of Dean just outside the village of Mitcheldean. The cabins can be rented individually or together for two couples wanting to holiday together but also enjoy a little privacy.
Step inside to find all that you will need to refresh and recharge from your journey. Whilst the kettle is on, put your feet up and dig into some of the many complimentary homemade scones with jam and butter. The kitchen is fitted with an induction hob, a fridge (with a small icebox) and a dishwasher. All plates, cups, utensils and pans that you may possibly need will also be available for you. Get cosy by the wood burner with a generous basket of wood and kindling to keep you toasty warm. When it's time for bed, climb into your super comfy king-size bed with luxurious Egyptian cotton sheets. Your luxury en-suite bathroom comes complete with a walk-in power shower, fluffy, hotel-inspired bathrobes and complimentary, locally made toiletries. Man's best friend will also be welcome to stay and will be thoroughly spoilt with a handmade doggy truckle bed and blanket to keep them cosy too!
Open the French doors from the living room which leads directly out to the undercover decking area. Take a look up at the stars from the comfort of the heated Japanese soak tub, ideal for two people (think hot tub, but no jets, lights or nasty chemicals)! Or sit back and relax with a glass of wine (or two!) on the handcrafted cedar swinging love seat. Step down from the veranda to the meadow, where you will find your own firepit, with a griddle and BBQ utensils for you to enjoy great outdoor cuisine. There is a small oven and microwave you can use in the main site office if it all sounds a little overwhelming.
With fast reliable wi-fi, quality crockery, glasses, kitchen utensils and a variety of books,games and bluetooth speaker. You will find some complimentary essentials within the cupboards, including freshly ground coffee, breakfast and herbal teas, sugar, oil, salt, pepper, vinegar, rice, pasta and porridge oats.

Choose from a Plump Hill Farm Breakfast Pack or BBQ Pack from a family-run agricultural smallholding in the Forest of Dean. Cakes & Candles or Tea Time Treats are also available to order or why not treat yourself to a box of 16 delicious truffles made by Littledean Chocolate Store. Flowerhouse, an award-winning local florist can arrange for local and seasonal flowers on your arrival. Each cabin has a traditional open fire pit for some fun outdoor smoke and sizzle! BBQ tools and a griddle are provided, you just need some sustainable lump wood charcoal.
What is there to see and do at The Roost?
Take a stroll down the road to St. Anthony's Well or take a walk through the old forest that you can reach from behind the cabin. along with a myriad of footpaths that can be found directly from the site. If you prefer to explore on two wheels, why not bring your bike (or rent one and have it delivered to the site) and try one of the many cycling paths in the forest? You can try wild swimming at the River Wye, just a five-minute drive away, or why not rent a canoe for the day if you'd rather not get wet? If you looking for something a little less active, why not head to the award-winning, Harts Barn Cookery School in the village.
Mitcheldean boasts two microbreweries, Jolter Press and The Bespoke Brewing Co (both have tap rooms open on Friday & Saturday nights) and are well worth a visit. There are also a handful of great restaurants all within a short drive of the cabins.
