Overview

The Mill Garden is a half acre informal cottage garden originally created by Arthur Measures, and lies in a superb setting beneath the walls of Warwick Castle, beside the River Avon. It is a garden of winding paths that lead through a delightful series of plantings with an abundance of plants, shrubs and trees. Around every corner there are dramatic views of the Castle, medieval bridge, Castle Mill and the river. It is a place of peace and beauty.

We came across the garden whilst wandering down Mill Street admiring the cottages on either side. It was a fantastic sunny day, and on entering we were rewarded with seeing the garden in full bloom. We spoke to the lady owner on entry and she gave us a brief history of the garden. We were then left to wander. It is not a huge garden, but for anyone interested in garden design and plants, it is a gem. Long established, some of the plants are amazing, and have grown to incredible sizes. At the rivers edge there are the remaining pillars of a medieval bridge that was originally the main route south. As you turn to the right there are stunning views of Warwick Castle towering above. The river was tranquil, and there are several benches to sit on and take everything in. On leaving we stopped to speak to the owners who were more than happy to chat about the history of Warwick, Coventry and even Spike Milligan! Well worth the £2.50 (some of which I believe is contributed to various charities) on a sunny day. Take an hour to relax and take in the relaxing ambience of the surroundings.

We visited The Mill Garden when arranging to meet up with some friends who were already there. I'm relatively new to Warwick and surrounding areas so still finding lots of new places, but this place is a stunningly beautiful little secret! It's only £2.50 to get it and although it's small, you could stay in there all day, it's so peaceful and as an added bonus provides a wonderful view of Warwick castle! The owners are really pleasant and welcoming and even sell some of the beautiful plants their garden features. Definitely worth a visit.

The Mill Garden is located at a dead end alley behind the Warwick Castle. The Garden is privately owned with an enthusiastic owner. The entrance fee of £2,50 per adult is well worth the money. A garden with a large variety of plants located on the riverbank and with a view of the Warwick Castle at the back. Garden offers ample opportunities to relax and enjoy the view while seating on one of the benches. Well worth the visit.

This is an exceptionally beautiful garden set just below the walls of Warwick Castle with the river running next to it. Always immaculately maintained and usually with a small selection of key plants for sale. Most tourists unfortunately miss it so it remains a delight to enjoy throughout the summer months. Spellbinding gardens and site. One of the most romantic gardens in Warwickshire. Dr D Mitchell

To my shame, I had never actually visited this well known attraction despite having lived so near it for so long & heard only good things. It is a most beautiful spot by the River Avon with unique views of Warwick Castle & has clearly been put together with love & skill. On a very busy, hot Festival day in Warwick, it offered an oasis of calm.

This garden is tucked away near to Warwick Castle. We spent a lovely hour there wandering around and sitting on the river bank in it's beautiful surroundings. The staff are very friendly and the garden over looks the castle. This is a lovely place to relax and unwind. And somewhere we will return to when we are next in the area.

Every time I visit Warwick I visit Mill Garden, apart from its view of the castle keep the garden is simply stunning. I like to visit first thing before it gets busy, when I can take in the beauty of the garden and the tranquillity. A must!

Beautifully kept medium sized garden on the bank of the Avon with Warwick Castle as a backdrop. With the added advantage that all the modest charge goes to charity.
