Overview

Home to the Berkeley family for more than 400 years, Spetchley is filled with rare plants, trees and shrubs that have been collected from around the world and nurtured carefully, to create a garden that is inspired and imaginative, with vistas that delight all that see them.

Where is Spetchley Park Gardens located?

The 30 acre gardens at Spetchley Park sit surrounded by parkland in the glorious Worcestershire countryside. Spetchley Park is 3 miles from Worcester, and close to both junction 6 and junction 7 of the M5.

What style of garden is Spetchley Park Gardens?

It's not about formal lawns and precise beds at Spetchley. Instead, the gardens are filled with plants, trees and shrubs, to create a series of ‘rooms'. In the spring, the daffodils, irises, lilies, magnolias and peonies are spectacular, and in summer, the stunning herbaceous borders are both bold and colourful.

What can guests enjoy at Spetchley Park Gardens?

The garden at Spetchley changes constantly, and it's a delight for plant lovers and those simply looking for a gentle and inspiring place to relax. The Garden Tea Room sells excellent hot and cold food, making it easy to make a day of it, relaxing in such a superb setting. The Interpretation Centre allows visitors to learn more about the planting and history of the Berkeley family, and the new Natural Play Area is a must for younger visitors. The Plant Centre has a wide range of shrubs and plants available for sale.

Reviews

We were very pleased to have gone. The weather was beautiful, so even in the afternoon, it was lovely to walk in the garden. There are some magnificent trees that frame the house beautifully. There are both formal and informal beds, woodland, herbaceous and exotic areas. Lovely vistas over the lake and into the distance over the deer park. At this early point in the season some of the magnolias and rhododendrons were out, the bluebells and aconites were eye catching, but the spring bulbs were going over. There are well placed statues to draw the eye along paths. It is easy to see/imagine how fabulous the peonies will be in a few weeks and how the garden will change over the seasons. Loved the horse pool....yep a pool for cleaning horses! We were also lucky to meet and have a brief chat with Miss Berkeley, who came to feed the nursing swans and ducks and is very informative and interesting, including suggesting other places worth a visit.

We found Spetchley Park Gardens when looking for somewhere fairly local to Gloucestershire for a picnic. We loved the look of Spetchley on the website and took our picnic lunch there. It was the perfect place to sit and enjoy a birthday lunch. We were four adults and an 18 month old in a pram. It was a beautiful day and we sat by the water watching swans and ducks with their young. The £7 entrance fee was definitely worth it. The gardens were a beautiful variety of flowers, plants and trees. It had a natural charm to it that wasn't too manicured. We would definitely return, mainly to try out the tearooms next time. :)

Garden is well cared for by staff and volunteers and there's lots of different planting for the seasons. Parkland and deer too. Plenty of parking. Reasonable entrance fees. We enjoyed our lunch in the tea rooms and there was a lovely array of cakes (which we too full up to try.)

Visited last month on a cream tea deal and was owed by the beautiful grounds and scenery. Our Cream tea was really nice but the highlight of the day was our tour tour of the house which was fascinating and great fun too! I would really recommend a visit to this little treasure.
