Whitby is a popular tourist town situated on the north east coast of Yorkshire. It developed as a fishing port and also for a time a whaling port. Its most famous sailor and explorer was Capt James Cook who set sail from the port on his voyages of discovery. Today the town has a lot to offer the many visitors, including a clean sandy beach, many cafes, pubs and also fish and chip shops.
