Trebah Garden

Mawnan Smith, Falmouth, Cornwall, TR11 5JZ

Trebah Garden is a 25 acre sub-tropical ravine garden, falling 200 feet from the 18th century house to a private beach on the Helford River. A stream cascades over waterfalls through ponds full of Koi Carp, and exotic water plants wind through 2-acres of blue and white hydrangeas that spill out over the beach. Huge Australian tree ferns and palms mingle with shrubs of ever changing colours and scent beneath over-arching canopy of 100-year-old rhododendrons and magnolias. A giant plantation of gunnera and clumps of huge bamboos give the garden a unique and exotic wildness, matched by no other garden in the British Isles.

Trebah Garden is part of the following Travel Ideas:

Ten of the Best Father’s Day Gifts by Natalie French

"Nature lovers will be in their element at the sub-tropical paradise of Trebah Garden in Cornwall. This exotic ravine garden wouldn’t look out of place with dinosaurs roaming the 25 acres. Wander with your dad beneath canopies of exotic blooms, taking in the waterfalls and giant gunnera and you’ll see why Trebah is rated among the 80 finest gardens in the world. With over four miles of footpaths, a colourful array of 100-year-old rhododendrons and a private beach – this will be a father’s day to remember!"
