House to the Fraser family for more than 400 years, the castle is full of family portraits, ornaments and mementos–all of which have their own vivid tales to tell about the lairds. The atmospheric Baronial Castle Fraser was first built in 1575 and has a rich, noble and often rugged past. The castle includes many portraits of the Fraser family, including one by Raeburn. Highlights include the Great Hall dating back to the 1400s, a library full of family books, and the Grand Worked Space featuring 18th-embroideries. Outside, you've got 140 acres of farmland to discover by forest trails and nature walks.
What can guests enjoy at Castle Fraser, Garden & Estate?
The estate includes a flight pond, mixed woodland and open farmland, with two path-marked walks offering stunning views of the local hills. The historic walled garden features shrubs, bulbs, walled fruit and vegetables.
