Overview

Warwickshire 1680. Robert Hooke designed Ragley just 15 years after his work started rebuilding London with Sir Christopher Wren, caused by The Great Fire of London. Ragley's magnificent proportions are created in the Italian style after Andrea Palladio, however, its imposing portico wasn't added until 1780 by James Wyatt. During 1793, the title of Marquess of Hertford was created and Francis, 2nd Lord Conway, was rewarded for his services to his Country with the Estate. Today his family, the 9th Marquess and Marchioness of Hertford welcome visitors to their home which has amassed a wonderful collection of art and antiquities from each generation of their ancestors, something which continues to this day. From Joshua Reynolds to Ragley's latest mural on the stairs, ‘The Temptation', and modern sculptural installations strategically placed in Robert Marnocks Gardens and Capability Brown's Parkland wonder. Art and nature have been a playful attraction here for over 220 years. Of course cultural activities are not the only great draw to this ravishing rural spot. Ragley's flora and fauna bring interested parties from all over the globe, and its grounds provide fertile opportunities for the highest quality farm produce. Not to be missed, Ragley's sausages at the farm shop!
