Overview

Discover the beautiful Standen House and Gardens Standen House and Gardens are a love song to the Arts and Crafts movement and tell the tale of 1920s family life through all manner of artefacts and furniture. The hillside gardens that surround the house are under restoration to return to the design created by Mrs Beale, the owner of Standen. Staff use her diaries to recreate the lost garden features and historic plant collections of the past, the result being a garden that is brought back to its heyday with year-round interest for horticultural fans. Admire the rusty red acers, linger on the spotless croquet lawn or take a picnic to the upper garden for stunning views of the house. Wear the kids out on one of the walks through the 100 acres of parkland of the estate, taking in ancient bluebell woods and meadow land.
