Set in rural Essex, enjoying stunning views of the surrounding countryside, Hyde Hall is a haven of peace and tranquillity, encompassing a diverse mix of garden styles from traditional to modern. Away from the hectic pace of day to day life, and with lots of space to think and breathe you'll find something to delight and inspire whatever the season.

Hyde Hall is 10 miles south of the city of Chelmsford, and 16 miles north of the riverside town of Southend-on-Sea. The garden is easily accessible from the M25/A12.

Highlights include the Dry Garden with its fantastic range of drought-resistant plants and the Hilltop Garden with its fragrant roses and colour-themed herbaceous borders. There's also a Global Growth Vegetable Garden, which showcases vegetables from around the world and a Winter Garden that celebrates the delights of winter with its multitude of radiant stem colours, peeling barks, luminous leaf colours and dazzling berries.

Spring - In spring, Hyde Hall erupts with a range of flowering bulbs such as daffodils, grape hyacinths and winter windflowers. Tulips, marsh marigolds and gorgeous malus tree blossom also all come to life at this time of year.

Summer - Summer arrives with a wonderful display of colourful blooms, the heady scent of roses and a great range of weekend events.

Autumn - Autumn is a subtle delight with flowering grasses, structural seed heads, turning leaves and ripening fruits and berries.

Winter - Winter provides magical scenes of rolling frost tinged fields, colourful stem colours and outlines of structural evergreens.

Hyde Hall hosts a huge variety of fun events throughout the year and you can create your own family adventures around the garden with the Higgledy Hyde woodland tower and garden explorer trails. The garden is also an inspirational backdrop for a wide range of art & craft fairs, exhibitions and seasonal events that the whole family can enjoy. After exploring the garden, in the Clover Café, you'll find a tempting selection of light lunches, sandwiches and cakes, while in the main garden you'll find the Gardeners Rest restaurant, where you can linger over a home-cooked lunch with family and friends.

Other Information

There are two powered mobility scooters and a number of manual wheelchairs for on-the-day use. A mobility vehicle provides a shuttle service from the Welcome Building to the Hilltop Garden.
