Shakespeare's Birthday Celebrations

On the weekend of 27 & 28 April 2019, Stratford will come alive to mark the birthday of William Shakespeare (born 23 April 1564) with a vibrant mix of pageantry and performance on the streets of his hometown of Stratford-upon-Avon. Celebrations include the famous Parade from Shakespeare’s Birthplace to lay flowers on his grave in Holy Trinity Church (a few minutes’ walk from Heritage Mews), a flag unfurling ceremony with representatives from all over the world, street theatre, Living Statues, musicians including a brass band, Morris dancers, Sonnet readings by actors on the famous chain ferry across the River Avon, free activities including stage fighting workshops and musical performances by the Royal Shakespeare Company - all within a 10 minute walk from Heritage Mews.
