We booked this hotel for a 4 night break in September. After we made our booking we were kept informed of their updates regarding COVID-19 rules and regulations. We chose a Double Deluxe room with a sea view overlooking Combesgate beach and were not disappointed. Our room (no 15) was very clean, spacious and comfortable with a large en-suite shower room. We had two sea facing large windows with two very comfy armchairs in the window area. Tea/coffee/water and biscuits were provided in the room. There is a small outdoor unheated pool and a small heated indoor pool. The latter you will need to book in advance at the moment. There is adequate parking. From the hotel, just a little way along a costal path you can walk to some steps which take you to Combesgate beach. Along the same path you can walk to the very long stretch of Woolacombe Bay sand beach taking in the costal scenery and watching the surfers. There are many costal paths you could follow but the one we enjoyed the most was the path to Mortehoe! (About 2 miles). Breathtaking scenery! We stopped in Mortehoe village for a well deserved drink and jam and clotted cream scone, absolutely delicious. We could not fault the hotel. Our food was excellent and we had very good sized portions. We have to give the dining staff a special mention as they were so friendly, welcoming and kind. We consider we had the best table (no 3) as we had views of Combesgate beach right in front of us where we could watch the sunset over the sea. The reception staff were also very welcoming and friendly. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and will be hopefully returning in the future

his is an excellent, well-managed small hotel in a stunning cliff-top location. We stayed in mid-July 2020 not long after the pandemic restrictions for hotels were relaxed and have stayed several times before in ‘normal’ circumstances. The staff and management have thought carefully about how to keep guests, (and I presume staff), safe and have managed to do this without any of the new initiatives seeming overly intrusive. A one-way system on the stairs to upper floors; more tables outside; decrease in number of dining tables inside; a copy of the hotels Covid Policy e-mailed to us in advance, and so on. To accommodate the changes the restaurant menu is smaller, there is no buffet at breakfast and all meals are a la carte. We thought this was much better….and do hope this becomes a permanent fixture, but then again we’re not keen on buffets! Be aware if using the beach that social distancing can be a problem on the long steps down to Combesgate beach, and that if you are a non-resident wanting to eat at the hotel you will certainly need to phone and make a reservation first. The staff did a tremendous job during our stay. Seating diners outside undoubtedly involves lots of carrying plates, drinks, and so on up and down steps, never fun, but the staff were unfailingly cheerful and unflustered and made our stay a relaxing treat. Thank you.

Things are a little different at the Watersmeet. The crisp white tablecloths and fine dining have been replaced with wooden tables and a bistro style menu. It was sad to see however we understand the reasons for these changes. The food, the wine and of course the views were still as lovely as ever and we soon embraced the new look. We stayed in room 10 (deluxe balcony). With its sleek new balcony, stunning en suite and spacious size we absolutely loved it ! The weather was kind so we spent our afternoons on the terrace enjoying drinks and snacks from the bar while taking in the gorgeous views. Absolute heaven ! Lastly a big thank you to the Watersmeet team. They worked tirelessly to ensure we safely enjoyed our stay. Wearing masks and visors is not easy however they carried this off with no complaints, with their friendly smiles, professionalism and excellent customer service. We really do admire you all and look forward to our next visit.

We have just returned from a four night stay at this hotel. It was just what we needed during these stressful times. We felt completely safe and and not at all vulnerable. All staff wore visors and masks and dining tables were wells spaced. Rooms were not entered once we arrived which was not a problem and anything we needed was brought to the door after a phone call. The food was delicious although a bit pricey and daytime views spectacular. The staff were delightful. Guests wore masks walking through the hotel and only hotel guests were allowed in which was very important to us. Parking was easy. Such a lovely area to visit. Well done Watersmeet

First time at the hotel and it was very impressive. On arrival, gardens and car park kept very neat and tidy and this turned out to be reflective of the whole place. We got lucky with an amazing sunset on the beach adjacent to the hotel on night 2. Generally stunning views, great food and attentive staff. Really nice 2 night stay in a great hotel and lovely village

Lovely Hotel very welcoming clean and all CV19 protocols in place. Felt very safe during our stay. We stayed in a deluxe double room with wonderful view of the sea and beach. Lots of lovely walks which you can make as long or short as suits. Food is excellent we ate here two of our three nights but just had to have our fish & chips from Squires at Braunton.

Fantastic venue, great views, lovely rooms - we had a sea view and balcony. Staff very helpful despite Covid restrictions making their jobs more challenging. We only ate here one evening but good wholesome fare. Breakfasts were excellent. Highly recommended

Stunning location, stayed in the sun pipe room which is lovely and cozy. The windowless room didn’t bother us much as being October the weather was rubbish anyway! The staff couldn’t of been anymore helpful. Pool lovely, cleanliness at a high standard
