Overview

Uplands House is a luxury five-star bed and breakfast, with many years of Gold Awards and Breakfast Awards, overlooking the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the heart of England. The house has a lovely tranquil garden - a pretty rose garden with waterfall and fishpond. Enjoy a splendid breakfast, and a four-course dinner is available, using local produce. Your hosts, Poppy and Graham provide the very best in English country house hospitality.

What are the rooms and facilities on offer at Uplands House?

The bedrooms at Uplands House exude peace and tranquility, have stunning views of the countryside, and en-suite bathrooms, where large fluffy towels and dressing gowns, soap, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and bubble bath are provided. In each room, guests will find tea / coffee trays and biscuits, still and carbonated water, a flat-screen TV, a docking station clock radio, a heater, a torch, a hot water bottle, a charging plug for laptops, a notepad, and electric blankets.

What can guests enjoy when staying in the Banbury area?

Standing in a beautiful one-acre garden, Uplands House is within a short drive of Blenheim Palace, Moreton-in-Marsh, Stow-on-the Wold, The Swells, the Slaughters, Stratford-on-Avon, Chipping Campden,  Warwick Castle, the magnificent gardens at Stowe, arguably the finest landscape garden in Europe with its temples, bridges and other monuments, and so much more. Uplands House provides a wonderful base for visiting many of the attractions and events in the local area.

Where can guests enjoy food and drink?

Most of the guests choose to eat with the hosts on their night of arrival and you may wish to really treat yourselves to the fine dining experience that awaits you at Uplands House. There is a delicious home-cooked candlelit dinner available most evenings which is complemented by a very good wine list and those who enjoy a fine bottle will be spoilt for choice. Dinner is generally eaten together in the dining room, or in the warm weather on the terrace. In the morning, guests can indulge in a tasty and satisfying Warwickshire breakfast. Start with a glass of orange juice from real fruit, squeezed by hand just before you drink it, homemade muesli or cereals, or berries from the garden with organic honey yogurt. This may be followed by a choice of eggs, bacon, sausages, tomatoes, and mushrooms, baked beans, black pudding, and hash browns. Smoked salmon, kippers and kedgeree need to be ordered in advance. Finally, there is plenty of toast with a good selection of homemade jams and marmalades, and of course, the coffee and tea of your choice.

Friendly welcome from Poppy; rooms are all excellent with wonderful furnishings. We had the four-poster bedroom overlooking the garden and meadow land. The bathroom was huge and luxurious with both large bath and separate shower. The breakfasts were lovely and included Poppy's wondrous selection of home made jams and marmalades. We chose the four-course dinner option with Poppy and Graham's lively company. The meal included a crab starter and a succulent duck main course followed by home-made crumble and cheese. Everything you could wish for is at Uplands House. We look forward to our next visit.

My wife & I stayed here for one night in mid June - was the best place we stayed in during our 10 day trip in England (we're Canadian). The hostess made our stay so enjoyable - right from the afternoon tea, to an amazing dinner & breakfast, great conversations with her, her husband and the other guests. She is also the most impressive woman I've ever met - she personified Britain to us. Rates were reasonable - and I highly recommend arriving in time for afternoon tea and dinner. We'd definitely stay there again.
