Uncle John's House, Redruth

Newly restored and extended, our holiday home is light, welcoming and spacious. The shape of the house means we can be there alone or with a group of friends. With two sitting rooms there’s space to be with your party or to retreat to the smaller room to read and cosy up on the sofa by the wood-burner.

My special pride is the enormous, exceptionally well-equipped kitchen/dining room. I like to cook with others around me. Here we've had 3 people cooking together and others enjoying a drink and chat and it feels spacious enough to do that without falling over each other. It's light and spacious inside the house and now the garden that surrounds the detached house is maturing I just love spending time in it gardening and picking flowers at almost any time of year. Spring for daffodils, primroses and crocuses and summer for too many to name.

The kitchen leads out of the bootroom which we've designed to allow damp coats, wetsuits, boots etc to be shed before you come into the house. You can shower here too if you're covered in sand or mud!

Since we've had grandchildren, we've added lots of things to make family life easier - and the house has proved a brilliant place to be for all ages (the garden can be completely enclosed for kids to come and go without needing to be watched).

Redruth is on the mainline railway, the station's only a 15 minute walk form the house.
