Located just 10 minutes from junction 40 of the M6 motorway for Pooley Bridge Pier (northern end of the lake) and 15 minutes from the central lakes via A592 for Glenridding Pier (southern end of the lake).

The villages of Pooley Bridge and Glenridding, at either end of the lake, are full of traditional Lakeland inns and shops. The pier at Aira Force connects you to the National Trust site, Aira Force Waterfalls, where visitors can enjoy a lovely walk with stunning views. There are also plenty of fantastic walking routes in the area, including the Ullswater Way, a 26-mile footpath around the shores of Ullswater - a perfect way to take in the views of the valley.

Pooley Bridge Pier/CA10 2NN: Leave the M6 at Junction 40, follow the A66 until you reach the roundabout, take the second exit onto the A592, it is then just 5 minutes to Pooley Bridge Pier. Glenridding Pier/CA11 0US: From South Lakes, travel over the scenic Kirkstone Pass for 20 minutes from A591 Windermere. Before you reach Glenridding Village, Ullswater 'Steamers' is signposted on the right. Only 8 miles from Ambleside and 12 miles from Bowness/Windermere. 508 Stagecoach bus & boat services from Central and Northern lakes - mainline rail services into Penrith station.
